| I am trying to convert Money 2003 files to Money 2006. I checked for the msjet35.dll file and also the %PATH%. The file is in the path. I am still having the problem. Any other advice? | I'm having the exact same problem, there are some suggestions in the thread, but nothing worked yet, here's a summary... I have been talking to MS and they have pointed out that people using WinXP can also be in trouble unless they've installed other software that has msjet35.dll, and it is on the path. It is not sufficient to have the file on the computer, Money 2006 must be able to find it. Search the hard drive, and see if there are any copies of msjet35.dll. If so, see if it is on the path. If that folder is not listed on the path, copy it to a folder that is, do your conversion, then delete the file so that you are not open to the security flaws. You can always re-install Money 98 or 99 and get a copy of msjet35.dll from there. To find what is on the path, open a Command Prompt and type "ECHO %PATH%" (without the quotes). This will list all the folders on the path, separated by semi-colons. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money This did not work, I'm going to try an alternate suggestion of upgrading to an intermediate version, Money 2002. Hpe that works. | I found a fix for this problem. Gary, I hope this helps you and anyone else who has this problem. First, uninstall Money 2006. Do an internet search for Microsoft Money trial version 2003. Download and install the trial version. **Make sure you change your computer's date to 2003 or it will not fully work** Money 2003 will update your 98 or 99 file to 2003 compatible. Then you can re-install Money 2006 and it will convert the 2003 file into 2006 compatible. Everything now works in 2006. Happy financial planning! | Can anyone help me convert files created in Money 99 into the new Money 2006 that I just payed for today? I've got so much information in the Money 99 and I really don't want to lose it all or have to recreate it all. Here are the error messages that I get: When the program first opens and tries to access the old files: "'File Name' may be corrupted or is not a Money file. If you chose the correct file and it would not open, you can try to repair this file or restore a recent backup file. To do this, click OK and then follow the instructions on the screen. If you are attempting to open a Money 98 or 99 file, or you need more info, click Send Error Report" When I click on Send Error Report, I am taken to a website that reads "We're sorry there is no additional information on this problem." When I try to select the backup file, it gives me this message: "Money cannot locate 'File Name' or cannot open it possibly because it is a read only file or you do not have permission to change it or your disk drive is write protected. If you have chosen the correct file and it cannot be accessed you will need to click Ok and open your most recent backup file. If the file is being used by another application, close it in the other application and click OK to try again." When I hit OK and then cancel to get out of it, Money closes and I have to start all over again. Any suggestions? Thanks for reading if you made it all the way here and thanks for your help. |
