You can turn off MSN passport in settings. Money checks for updates
every time it loads. I would recommend to do it once you install the
software to get all patches.

ID/PIN issue depends on the bank. Some of them do things differently.
When some of them let you download your transaction into MS Money, some
want you to be subscribed for such service.

I just bought Microsoft Works suite of ebay for $30 that included an OEM
version of Money 2005 standard edition. What a buggy pice of software this
is. I updated my Money 2002 file and have had nothing but problems. How do I
merge accounts without it duplicating all transactions? Everytime I start up
the program and click 'work off line' it still wants to connect. I mean when
I say offline I want to stay off line. This really bugs me. All the help
files are online, give me a break, I want to work off line quite a bit and a
pain to have to connect just for help. What a piece of crap this is. I've
used Money since 98 and have been really happy with it but this has got to
be the worst version I've ever seen.
Is there anyway to do automatic updates without having to log in to
Passport? I'm leary having all my data on the internet.
Time to switch to Quicken?
One thing I noticed with quicken is that some bank will let you type in the
ID and PIN and some banks you can only download via web connect. Is this the
problem with the bank? I've fiddled with this thing for a week and I'm
ready to throw MS works in the garbage. Any suggestions? I'm really just
looking for software that will do one click updates and keep all my banking
up to date.
