| Nope. I'm running 2006 and this behavior is still present, though it seems to happen less often. I thought it had something to do with synchronizing with my Pocket PC, but now that I have 2006, that option is foreclosed, at least until the new version of Money for Pocket PC appears. |

| In 2005, I sometimes saw it 12 hours after closing it. Seems to be fixed in 2006 -- Michael Gordon MVP <johnbusc[at]hotmail.com> wrote in message news:1122369895.163255.12690[at]g44g2000cwa.googlegroups.com... - quote - > Frenchy, > It is normal to get the "Money is already running" message if you try > to re-open Money 2005 soon after closing your last session. | Frenchy, I specifically indicated Money 2005 since the behavio(u)r I described is normal with version 14 while earlier versions did not exhibit this. Not sure if it continues with version 15. Regardless, the time periods you are observing are not normal. JB Frenchy wrote: - quote - > Nope, it may be some time, if not hours later. I have NOT timed this, so > will keep a check. | Nope, it may be some time, if not hours later. I have NOT timed this, so will keep a check. It is certainly not in any 5-10 minute period after closing Money. HOWEVER, if I open Money and then close it any number of times it always opens without this error message, if I open it within 30 seconds or so. In other words, it does not do this after each close of Money, as U indicate is "normal" behaviour The point also, I have had Money for probably 8 years+ through most new versions and this is the first time this has happened. Only with this version. If it is on line as a PROCESS, why not show it as an APPLICATION. In these days of fiscal security paranoia, having any program fly under the radar to phone out is a no-no, without the owner KNOWING about it, so Microsoft needs to fess up, if this is normal! | Well I have exactly that version number and my version is definitely UK Financial Suite, but it maybe that the International versions had the same initial bit of version. | Are U saying the version number I have is UK sourced? I have the Retail box it came in, with a Made in Singapore Microsoft official sticker. Bought in NZ from a very reputable shop. I have "always on" ADSL connection. I think I will firewall the Money exe file to ask me for permission, and see what is happening. I don't need on-line shares updates etc, so may turn it all off Thanks Frenchy "Bob Peel MVP" <Bob_Peel[at]kiandraNOSPAM.freeserve.co.uk> wrote in message news:evQRwYakFHA.1464[at]TK2MSFTNGP14.phx.gbl... : That version number AFAIK belongs to UK Money 2005 Financial suite with the : on-line patch. : : With M2005 there is a lot of background work associated with background : banking and on-line updating of currencies and stocks and shares. | That version number AFAIK belongs to UK Money 2005 Financial suite with the on-line patch. With M2005 there is a lot of background work associated with background banking and on-line updating of currencies and stocks and shares. When you exit Money this can rumble on in the background. If you have a dial up connection and drop it on exiting Money the background process will keep trying to get on-line until it times out. Although I have ADSL I have seen this if I exit Money and then try and get back in immediately. Given time the process should die of it's own accord. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. | MS Support suggested I come here for assistance. Have Money 2005, the box says "Standard" but Help/About in Money shows Microsoft Money Deluxe Version 14.0.120.1105 Copyright 2004 Microsoft So there may be some confusion on the version, although this purchased through a large and reputable New Zealand Computer Megastore. My problem, is occasionally when going to Open Money, it says "Money is already running" Well it isn't open in the tray and was closed correctly the previous opening and CTRL/ALT/Delete shows it NOT there as an Application but msmoney.exe is present in the Processes tab of the Task Manager. Manually closing the .exe file here, then allows Money to open normally. It doesn't happen all the time. The program was installed as a stand alone purchased product. Have WinXP SP2 and every upgrade. I just need to know if this is normal behaviour and part of some "Phone Home" situation or something more sinister. MS Support wouldn't help unless I paid! I don't think so <smile> !! Frenchy |
