No......sorry, I thought you were talking about the popup ad for Money
2006 that I now get when I start Money 2005. It comes up twice every
time I start it.

Thanks Steve, I input the same---except for online bill pay--I don't trust
the internet to do that. I'd rather spend $5 a month on postage. I saw too
many with problems after updating to 2005...so I passed. I may try 2006 at
some point....or maybe when my life cycle runs. I agree, it is a great tool.
"Know for a fact" are the key words here.

Just for the record, in ten years of using Money and updating each year
I have never used their passport. I have been able to download stockand
fund data daily. I input all my credit card and check data as it occurs
and confirm daily via phone or internet. I pay my bills thru my bank's
free bill pay service online to avoid postage. I find Money an
excellent personal finance managing tool and I stay away from "state of
the art" integration until I know for a fact that it works. Steve

I gave links assuming Money 2005 or 2006.

You can get information on Passport by entering "passport" into the
Ask Money box of help. One item there is "Learn the benefits of
using a Microsoft Passport with Money".

Thanks Cal. I was just reading Passport is needed for some features (on a
non-m$ site) but didn't say which ones. Can you give me a link or something
that explains this before I do it. I don't use online banking, bill pay, etc.
I only update my portfolio. (I have 2004 Deluxe, XP Home)
Thanks again.

File-> PasswordManager.

You may need to go to Tools-> Settings-> AccessYourMoneyDataOnTheWeb
to turn off background banking first.

Steve, why not use a passport or a password? And how do I remove using the
passport password? I really have no need for it.

Nicole was writing about desktop icons. Is that what you are
refering to?

That's what we're put here for: to be advertised to.

Thank you heaps. I have Money 2004. After I updated my portfolio the other
day, I started getting the popup for 2006 Premium when I was *offline*, in
the privacy of my own home (as well as the desk top icons). Nicole's "HATE
IT" is an understatement! I don't get popups at all online with EarthLink's
popup blocker, so M$ gives them to me offline. This is going a bit too far.
Very invasive.
But thank you for helping to turn it all off.

Come on everybody. We all know MS has ads and has the ability to pop
them up on Money. I got the 2006 ad also, after I bought my 2006
premium at COSTCO for $20. The ad "offered" to send me an internet
download of the program (no CD) for only $37 after their rebate. I
laugh at these things. Any of you who have been with Money for awhile
know the whole deal. You do NOT download this program without a CD in
hand. If you have a problem without a CD, GOOD LUCK TO YOU. You do NOT
pay more than $20 to $25 for this program. This year, Microsoft wants
us all to have the premium version instead of the deluxe version. Same
price as last years DELUXE. Everyone will get premium. I'm sure
Microsoft has a reason besides the "free" partnerships that come with
the product. So what. I feel sorry for those of you on this group who
don't know the "ropes". Oh yes, never, never, ever use passport OR a
password when using Money UNLESS the password is just on your own
personal computer for your own security within your own household.

Don't bother trying Quicken. I did this.
I would say that if Money and Quicken are competing who will put more ads on
the desktop then Money is slightly behind.
