| Hi Ross, Some financial institutions (e.g., Vanguard) insist on treating Money Market Funds as mutual funds (with a NAV of $1.00) and download the info accordingly. Other institutions (e.g, Schwab) usually treat MMFs as cash (in the cash side of an investment account) and therefore ignore buys and sells of the MMF (but sometimes they download the buys and sells). Still others (e.g., Merrill Lynch) seem to do both -- ignore the buys and sells of the MMF in some accounts and download them in others. Bottom line: figure out how Fidelity handles MMFs for downloading -- do a search here for Fidelity; the issue comes up with some regularity. Hope this helps. -- Michael Gordon MVP "Ross" <Ross[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:C54A3E31-8A69-447E-A437-566FCAC14090[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > Hi Michael, > I think I found a big part of the problem, though it doesn't account for > all > of the error. | Hi Michael, I think I found a big part of the problem, though it doesn’t account for all of the error. I have my investment account with Fidelity Investments. I have 6 positions in mutual funds, all of which Money is tracking accurately. However, I keep some reserve cash in the account. It is held in FTEXX (Fidelity Municipal Money Market Fund) or FDRXX (Fidelity Cash Reserves). MS Money does not seem to recognize either of these funds. It simply ignores that they exist. MS Money successfully updates account balances except for these two funds. Any ideas how to get MS Money to start tracking these funds thru automatic updates, or will I have to manually update? Thanks, Ross "Michael Gordon, MVP" wrote: - quote - > There were some very clumsy workarounds -- upgrading to 05 did two things: > it eliminated the phantom transaction and prevented it from happening again. > If you want more on the clumsy workarounds, let us know. > -- > Michael Gordon > MVP > "Ross" <Ross[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:7FBA3B73-CCBA-48A8-B8B5-7607F9FE02E8[at]microsoft.com... > > Hi Michael, > > > Thanks for the help, this is driving me nuts. > > > I'm using 2004. | There were some very clumsy workarounds -- upgrading to 05 did two things: it eliminated the phantom transaction and prevented it from happening again. | Hi Michael, Thanks for the help, this is driving me nuts. I'm using 2004. If it was a bug, is there a patch I can pick up? I'd be happy to try a patch, but I just recently stumbled on a screen that showed the "bank balance" in one column, and "MS Money balance" in the other. Unfortunatly I can't seem to find that screen again (I'll keep trying). What I'm trying to say is that it seemed like Money was doing this on purpose, I just don't know why. I suspect it's a config, option, or preference I need to set. "Michael Gordon, MVP" wrote: - quote - > What version of Money, Ross? | What version of Money, Ross? There was a problem with phantom transactions that came up in 2004 and was resolved in 2005. -- Michael Gordon MVP "Ross" <Ross[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:AE30B75C-7214-4DA9-AFF0-10A453094AC9[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > My investment account balances in money don't match what my investment > company says the balances are. | My investment account balances in money don't match what my investment company says the balances are. I update online, so everything is current. I stumbled on a page in MS Money that showed both the correct balance and the incorrect balance, but now I can't find that page again. I think the problem is some display option in MS Money I don't know about, and need to set so that the proper balance is displayed. |
