Thanks for the explanation, Chris. The two banks I use do it very
differently: one supports ACH in and out to other banks; the other only
supports ACH out, not in.

Go figure.

Because of the direct bank-to-bank transfer capabilities of MSN Bill Pay.
That probably would be my only use, but it's convenient. Currently I use my
Fidelity money market for that, because it supports ACH transfers in and
out. But I have to make it a two-step process, with a few days' delay to let
one transaction complete before making the other side.

Netbank supports ACH in but does not (and never will, in my perception)
support ACH out. It makes it too easy for the customer to get to their
money. Except for the better money market rates, Netbank otherwise sucks (in
my opinion.)

Just out of curiosity (last time I used online bill payment was before
Quicken or Money existed): why would you want both capabilities for the same
account?

I have MSN Billpay on one of my accounts and it does the same thing. I
think and one of the MVPs will correct me if I am wrong, you can have that
or the Bank's Online Services connected but not both. My bank does not
offer online services thru Money so when I want to download the transactions
from their website, I have to go to my browser.

Default Money downloads bank information from MSN Billpay

Wondering if I'm just doing something stupid. I use MSN Billpay and had used
Microsoft Money. Long story but I dropped using Money last year because I
had a ton of online data issues I couldn't fix. I kept using the web
interface for Billpay.

Anyway, I gave Money 2006 a whirl. It recognized that my passport had stuff
on the MSN Money site linked to it. It downloaded the payment bank
information from MSN Billpay into Money as a bank. But it thinks the
financial institution is MSN Billpay, not my bank. So, now I can't set it up
to download the actual statements.

Anyone know if I'm missing something basic here? It's driving me nuts.
