They aren't going to bother. The concept of split payees would confuse the
majority of idiots that the target market for this product consists of.
(Suprisingly, the target market doesn't seem to be the people who actually
use the program effectively).

Oh, and don't worry about the similar user name. It just caught me by
surprise because I didn't realize there were two Jeff P's here, but now that
I know you are in existance I'll pay closer attention.

You can do a split for transfers, so if the individual checks are from other
accounts you track, you can account for them,

Jef

Sounds like a lot of work. I think I will just deposit the check
seperately.

I contacted MS about this issue but I don't know what it takes fo
them to make changes to Money. What do these programmers do al
year? It doesn't seem like it would take that long for them to mak
the changes (from what I hear) that were made in M06

I didn't realize my user name was so similiar to yours. I will chang
it to avoid future confusion

At first you confused me. I thought I was replying to a reply of my own post
and then it occurred to me that we share the same first name and last
initial. LOL. This does seem like something I would have complained about
though.

One work around, although it requires a lot of fuss, is to create a seperate
"cash" account not held at a financial institution. Record each deposited
check as a deposit to that account, which then allows you to record the
payee seperately for each check since you will enter them as seperate
transactions. Then change the category on the downloaded ATM deposit in your
bank account to a transfer from this cash account. It should always have a
$0.00 ending balance in the cash account, as this is only used as a pass
through account for recording details about transactions in another account.

I find it easier to just insist that the bank teller always deposit each
check seperately, and insert each one seperately in the ATM machine. This
holds up the line and sometimes people become impatient, but hey, I didn't
create this idea of not being able to split payees on a single transaction.
That's life, I have to deal with it so they can too.

Of course if I did this on my business account I'd have some people really
ticked as there can easily be dozens of checks to deposit at once.
Fortunately I'm not using Microsoft Money to track the business
transactions.

Default Re: Recording Deposits

Jeff,

When you enter the individual deposits manually, enter them into a
separate cash account. Then the downloaded ATM deposit becomes a lump
sum transfer from the cash account to your bank account.

JB

I think you've about got it down. This hasn't changed in M06 that anyone has
reported.

This is another case where downloaded data can only get you so far.

Default Recording Deposits

I am currently using M04SB and have a question about recordin
deposits in my check register.

When I deposit several checks at the ATM and the deposit is downloade
during internet updates, I have no way (that I know of) to seperat
the Payor's of these checks for the single deposit. Yes, I can do
split but that is only for catagory

Can anyone tell me if this is the same in M06 or if it has changed?
Does anyone know a way around this other than manually entering eac
check? That is what I've been doing, recording the deposit
manually then deleting the downloaded deposit

Thanks
