| Glad to hear you are on your way! Thanks for the feedback. I just tried this in M04 and after Lookup Symbol, I selected the symbol and clicked OK, and wound up back at New Mutual Fund, clicked Finish, and wound up back at Create Investment Purchase, entered an amount, clicked OK, and all was well. | Let me cite, as closely as possible, the exact sequence of events. I'll use M06 since that's the machine I'm sitting at. M04 is essentially the same. If this doesn't work in your main file, try it in the sample file or a new file with nothing in it besides an investment account--which by default will have a cash account--and set to Advanced Bills. - Bill Summary|More - New|Investment Purchase - Transfer From [select any Cash Account] - Next Purchase Date [enter 7/14/2005] - Investment Account [select any Investment Account] - Investment [type qwertyuiop in the box--this will be the name of the new investment you are defining here] - [hit the Tab key] - [What type of Investment dialog box should pop] - [select Mutual Fund} - [click on Next> ] - [click on Finish] (when I just tried this, I did not get the same messages I got in two earlier test cases--who knows what this means? If you get one or two, just click OK) - Quantity [enter 0] - Total Amount Paid [enter 1,000,000--think big!] - [click OK] "Denny Browne" <denbrowne[at]email.uophx.edu> wrote in message news:%23ie$jzBiFHA.2904[at]tk2msftngp13.phx.gbl... - quote - > I am sorry, I misread your posting. | I am sorry, I misread your posting. When I try to enter a new investment, does bring up the dialog box about a new investment, which I create, then fill in the rest of the boxes. In never does let me enter in a quantity, price, commission, or total amount paid. If I click OK, it tells me I must correct the missing information, which it highlights the Investment box and won't let me go any further. | What I'm saying is that it's an entirely transient problem that does not stop you from scheduling an investment purchase and creating a new investment along the way. And I just tested this in M06 and had almost exactly the same results--M06 also whined about having no quantity specified. (That's also pretty dumb, as far as I can see. M04 let's you schedule an investment purchase just by dollar amount. For a non-money market/non-bond investment in the future, what more can you know? Now M06 insists on a qty but happily takes 0.) But once I accept the dialog boxes and fill in something in the remaining required fields, it happily scheduled the investment purchase for the newly create investment. Maybe I don't understand your issue still. You say you have "tried entering the investment into my portfolio first but no luck." No luck at what? You have defined Investments, but see none of them in the schedule an investment purchase investment pull-down? | Yes, exactly the same thing. I have set up recurring investments in the past but cannot remember how to get an investment in that dang combobox. I have even tried entering the investment into my portfolio first but no luck. -- Denny Browne "Dick Watson" <littlegreengecko[at]mind-enufalready-spring.com> wrote in message news:eGPfNCBiFHA.2072[at]TK2MSFTNGP14.phx.gbl... - quote - > I just went the full cycle, twice, in M04. | I just went the full cycle, twice, in M04. When I clicked Finish on the create investment stuff, I immediately get a Dialog Box saying "You must fill out all the required fields and then click OK to create this recurring transaction. To exit this setup, click Cancel." I clicked OK. I note that, having filled out the information in tab order, I haven't yet entered a Total Amount Paid. It's marked in red and there is the message about needing required information. I enter an amount and click OK. All is well. Summary: I suspect that the create investment stuff returns to the create investment purchase stuff in some goofy and probably defective way that the create investment purchase stuff interprets as an OK. (This is probably because it was designed and tested to work somewhere else--in some other context--and was not tested here. I'd bet this is a Money defect. Imagine that.) But not all fields are filled in. So I fill in the fields and all is well. Is that the dialog box you are seeing? Mark V., are you listening? This is probably a "feature" that you might want to get "improved." | Yes, the same thing happen to me, but if you continue on and try to save the recurring investment, it does not let me continue because the investment is not in the combo box when it loads. -- Denny Browne "Dick Watson" <littlegreengecko[at]mind-enufalready-spring.com> wrote in message news:uRsts91hFHA.576[at]tk2msftngp13.phx.gbl... - quote - > Hmm. | Hmm. I just tried it here in M06 and when I put in an investment name it didn't know it popped up a dialog box asking me what type of investment it was. "Denny Browne" <denbrowne[at]email.uophx.edu> wrote in message news:%23pK6Mi1hFHA.3540[at]TK2MSFTNGP14.phx.gbl... I want to set up a new recurring investment purchase in my bills. I am using 2006 or 2004. The problem is when I drop the combo box for Investments, it doesn't allow me to enter a new investment. I know I have done this in the past but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to add a new stock. When I try, it says the investment is missing. |

Thanks, -- Denny Browne |
