| You might go to the Portfolio Manager and turn off quote and dividend updates. From the portfolio manager, click "change portfolio settings" in the left pane. Then uncheck update prices. I'm not sure if this will make a difference, but one user reported a dramatic improvement. -- "Erik" <erik[at]gawtry.net.nospam> wrote in message news:%23fApXvdnFHA.2472[at]tk2msftngp13.phx.gbl... - quote - > I have been using Money for 11 years now, and it was nice and fast until > Money 2002. | has anyone heard any answers to the slowness of M06? The slowness seems to be random, but pervasive. I am getting into the habit of starting something, then walking away from my PC in order for simple actions to finish. This morning I downloaded a credit card statement, then left for work because I know it would not finish (there was one new transaction in the download). Right now Im waiting for my stock quotes and checking account to update. I have a very big money file: 63MB, but like other posts I should be able to keep a transaction histories and still be able to do simple functions. Is there a fix or patch on the way for this problem? At this point, I have no choice but to look at other packages, but dread the prospect of struggling through a file conversion that will be a mess. I started using money in 98 or 99. I have been happy with the product and recommended it to people. so sad..... | I upgraded from Money 2004 to the trial edition about a week ago. 2006 is not noticably faster or slower than 2004. | With every new version, I think maybe it's time to upgrade from 2003, but each time I keep hearing bad reports about the new one and decide to stick with the devil I know. | Mikey, what is the size of your M2006 file? Mine is over 30MB. It just seems to me that a financial tool ought to be able to keep several years worth of data especially when it needs this data to provide many of its benefits. | Is anyone experiencing a time with M2006 as it relates to speed in changing from windows, especially in any window with a calculation such as Budget. I have been a longtime user of Money but it is getting frustratingly more difficult to use this product each year. Microsoft needs to consider this a Killer Bug that will cause long-term customers to leave. No one wants to archive off data to try and pick up speed. My computer is new with lots of horsepower and memory so that is not the issue. I NEED HELP!! -- Billy |
