| The spb Program does work with 2006. i just insatlled the trial and sync'd my PPC and it added all my Money 2006 data into the program. So, we can either shell out 20.00 or wait for Microsoft for who knows how long get a Sync program. | Do you know why did I switch from Quicken to Money? because when I change my handheld to my first PPC some years ago, Quicken hasn´t a compatible version with PPC and Money has. Soo I changed because I though it was sure that MS assures the continuity of its software in their plattform. My mistake. Now the question is, do I change to Quicken again and buy the $19.99 pocket version? I guess I'll do. Because it's is not just a utility for my PPC, it's a wokking tool I need every day. | OKay, It's now August 19 and Money PPC 2006 is still not available. Is there any estimate? I have tried Quicken, their conversion program it imported 384 records of over 5000, all from 2001. It took me 15 minutes to get their tech support in India to understand that their web site says they do support the conversion program, which they were no help with at all. Since Quicken is out and my old Palm is dying quickly, I need to migrate to PPC and upgrade to a more recent version of Money quickly. As 2006 is not an option, Where can I get Money 2005? If the versions must match to sync, they should be released together. | My 2¢ on this: - releasing the desktop software is tied to other products as well; Works in particular has it's own schedule. - I'm pretty sure that only a small % of Money users use the PPC Client. One could argue that the majority shouldn't have to wait for this capability used by a minority. - My memory (which could well be faulty) is that they haven't released the client at the same time as the desktop. -- Michael Gordon MVP "James E. | The difference in this situation is that the follow up application brings in no new revenue. I don't know if my theory is correct. Another theory might be is that MS finds working on PPC is a good way to keep developers occupied as they support fixes in new PC Money and before their next project. Whatever the details, I still expect the reason starts with PPC Money not generating any incremental revenue. | Your argument makes sense when you try to rationalize the reason why they are delaying it, but when you think about it, then it falls apart. One of the most important things that they should have done BEFORE releasing the software was test the software to ensure that it was free of bugs. Previously they had released it at the same time. Now if they are holding it back, then they should be adding features to it, otherwise I can see no logical reason to hold back. If they are having problems with making it work, then they should have held back on releasing the Desktop software because once you get used to having the ability to enter transactions on the go, then you really don't want to have to wait until you get home. It was also nice to know how much you had in your bank just by pulling out your Pocket PC. "Michael J. | I had assumed that, because PPC version is free, it makes sense to wait on PPC version until the main product is battle tested. If the main program needs an update, particularly a major update like 2005 required, then they have to fix the PPC version not just in the lab, but on people's machines too. Why bother wasting time during launch coordinating with another programming team, particularly if they outsourced the PPC stuff? I learned my lesson with 2005. I would have avoided bushels of grief if I'd simply waited until PPC version was ready. The grief had nothing to do with the PPC version's absence and was all about the original 2005 version not being ready for prime time. "James E.
