| I enter my transactions manually, so I'm not sure if this applies, but in my cash account, a memo is automatically added to each transaction such as "Dividend:XXX Fund". You can create an "Account Transactions" report and sort on the memo field. However, you can't subtotal on the memo field. I export this report to Excel to get the subtotals. It may not be the most elegant solution in the world, but it works for me. | Wow! I think you've got me on this one. I almost exclusively reinvest, so maybe I was making some assumptions based on what I've learned/done in my Money DB reverse engineering project. (I just went and checked a specific data point there and my importers and match logic deal "correctly" with what Money spits out here--i.e., I associate the cash income categorization with the receiving Cash transfer account.) I guess I have to agree with your frustration. It really doesn't make much sense to reflect the Income category only in the Investment Account since the Investment Accounts aren't reported in the Income reports. OTOH, let's review the bidding to make sure we are talking about the same thing: - you are downloading data (generally I'd say this puts all bets off, but in this case I'll make an exception) - the Investment accounts reflects a "Dividend" activity with a transfer account set to the cash account - your Tools|Options|Investments|Investment Categories|Dividend Income is set to something like Investment Income ividendsIn my just-entered testcase, for report defaults--maybe there are customizations that can get you there, it: - shows up categorized in the Income and Spending report - shows up as an Inflow Transfer in the Monthly Income and Expenses report - doesn't show up in the Transactions By Category (Income categories) (why it's Income in Income and Spending and not in Income Transactions by Category is Another Money Mystery) - shows up in Investment Transactions I didn't check others--since I'd want it to show up uniformly in these--but suspect Cal is on good tracks that it will show up in some of the reports like Taxes. I think you said you have Dividend transactions in the Investment> because none of my dividend transactions have been categorized as > dividends), there are no transactions listed... Transactions register. 1. Try resetting the report. 2. Consider trying the home page thing I suggested. |

| I hear what you're saying -- the problem is that the categories associated with dividends in the cash account are "Transfer: Stock Account", not investment categories. It appears that when Money downloads my stock account information, it automatically puts dividend transactions in the investment account as activity "Dividend" and then creates a transfer to the cash account (which then gets the category "Transfer...") As a result of this, none of the dividend transactions have any investment category associated with it. Make sense? |

The key categories are under INCOME section heading. Alternatively, on the home page, customize in the Income and Expenses if it is not already there. Right-click into the gold Income bar and choose ViewTransactions-> CreateAReport. Customize the report as you wish, and maybe save it as a Favorite. |

| Search/report on the income in the cash accounts using the categories associated with the investment activities. Think of the Investment account as a filing cabinet for the stock certificates. You wouldn't look there for the dividend checks. | In Money 2k5, I've got a few stock accounts with separate cash and investment transaction tracking. When I enter receipt of a dividend for a stock (on the investment transaction side, with "Dividend" chosen as the activity), the cash side of the account shows a transfer from the investment side of the account that is equal to the dividend amount (makes sense). However, it appears that the investment side of a stock account does not have any category tracking associated with it (only "activity" tracking) and so the amount on the investment side is not categorized as a "Dividend" or as "_DivInc" or any such. As a result, there is no way to do a report on or search for dividend income. Any thoughts? |
