Not all problems occur in all situations. You could similarly note
that others install the Money trial without your symptoms. That does
not mean that it is not a problem in Money, but it does not mean it
is not a problem related to the beta ZA either.

If you were running Norton and having an install problem, I would
recommend that you uninstall Norton, do the Money install, and
reinstall Norton. Several people have reported success with that in
the past tho configuring "disable" in Norton did not allow success.

I would ask the people running the beta if this could be related to
something about the beta ZA.

Already tried that, this is from my previous post:

A new user did not solve the problem. Same behavior, the GUI does not open.

I even tried running it from the wife's limited user account, and even in
Safe Mode but no go the same thing happened, msmoney.exe loads into memory
but GUI.

Yes it is an open beta, however I have installed and tested other apps with
this beta and do not have this problem. Sadly enough the only app I have
this problem with is the Money '06 trial.

I would think the tech's at MS would like to know about this but there is
no way for me to submit a report to them as this is a trial version. So,
where do we go from here?

Sorry to hear that. I would try the different XP user. I don't think
it has to be admin access since you are not installing. After
testing you can delete the user.

The point is that the new user will get fresh settings for IE6. I
have not heard of your symptom before, but the other user thing
could be useful for testing.

Now if that is a beta ZA, .... :-)

Yes the install process does appear to complete without any problems. Yes
the problem is when I try to run/start money, I do not get a welcome
screen, setup screen/wizard, or anything. Money is loaded into memory but
no GUI is displayed.

> Did you have an existing Money file?

Not that I know of, although I did trial the 2005 version last winter. But
when I uninstalled it I also did a registry scan with jv16 PowerTools to
remove any residue, at least I think I removed all of the remnants. Do
you know of any registry areas that I can take a look at, to verify all
parts of the previous 2005 trial are removed?

A new user did not solve the problem. Same behavior, the GUI does not open.

FYI- I am a beta tester for ZL, an have a better than average grasp of
adjusting the settings within ZA for the various tweaks. I have given the
Microsoft Money program entry permission to access the Internet and the
Trusted Zones. In fact with ZA open and trying to start Money the ZA GUI
shows Microsoft Money accessing the Internet.

post above.

The reinstall has not helped, the same behavior still exists. I have even
cleared the TIF files and the Prefetch Folder thinking there might be
something in one of these that is causing this, but that did not help. I
have even installed over the existing instillation, just to see if it would
fix/repair any thing that was wrong in the original instillation, but that
did not work.

Thanks for hanging in with me I appreciate your help, and now on to the
next suggestion.

I think you are saying that the install process seemed to work
without problem, but the problem only occurred after you tried to
start Money. Did you have an existing Money file?

I would create a new XP user. See if you can open Money as that
user, and create a new XP file without a Passport (select Decline).

If that works without adjusting your ZA settings, then the problem c

For years almost no news servers respond to superceding. That was in
response to spoofing. Ideally there would be some kind of signing
process that would let the old ideas of superseding, deletion, etc
work without fear of spoofing.

The reinstall sounds like a good move.

Immediately after the install last night around 10 PM. It never displays
anything like that on the screen. The first time I loaded Money the ZA
firewall did ask permission for Money to access the Trusted and Internet
zones which I allowed, and it showed . As I said originally all I see is
the busy cursor for Money loading, and firewall activity.

I am getting the same behavior this AM. It behaves like this every time I
try to open it.

I tried to Supersede my previous message with some minor changes. I guess
that feature of the 40tude Dialog newsreader causes more trouble than it is
worth. Please forgive me.

This AM I am going to try opening it while in safe mode to see if that
makes any difference. If not then I will do an uninstall/reinstall to see
if that works.

Was there no indication when you first started-- such as Money
saying it was looking for existing files or was converting an
existing file?

How long did you wait before trying to start it again?

Default [Money 2006 Trial] Loads but not window visable

System - P4, XP home sp2 w/ all critical updates and patches. It is
clean/free from any virus, trojans, and any other malware.

I just downloaded the trial of Money 2006 and I would really like to try
it out. But when I click the Start Menu shortcut the HD is accessed, the
busy cursor is displayed but no Money Window is displayed. I again click
the Start Menu shortcut but now get a dialog box that states "Money is
already running." Process Explorer shows it has loaded, but as I have said
there is no window visible. What must I do to be able to try it?

It's late and I haven't tried anything except a reboot but that did not
help. Also searching this group did not yield anything helpful, and neither
did the FAQ. Any and all help Is greatly appreciated.
