Default RE: Money 2006 suggestion

I hear that, I have a 5 year old desktop that ran 04 just fine. Upgraded to
05 because it was free with Taxcut. Have been safe with the previous two
upgrades and thought I would be again. How wrong I was and have been
dreading the decision to this day. Crashes constantly, or won't let me open
then next window it needs as it runs me out of resources. Biggest piece of
junk I have ever run!

My guess is they don't care.

I can only guess.

They have not figured out how to fix it.

They have only had one a few complaints so they are putting their
resources elsewhere.

They have not been able to reproduce it.

They don't believe it would be worth the resources.

Who knows??? They are so big, they likely don't know.

I accept that. How do you explain non-response to easily repeatable things
like "Tax Estimator display garbled" and "schedule split morphs to
paycheck"?

That has been true from day one at Microsoft.

Often it is easier to add a new feature than to fix a bug that they have
not figured out what is causing the bug.

I have a 3.0GHz laptop with 1.5 gig RAM and I recently upgraded to Money 05.
Now money is slow and cumbersome(have to wait 4-5 seconds each time I accept
new transactions). For some reason alot is missing in 05 from 04 and it is
still slower. I have used Money for the past 4 years and now I am trying to
make a decision to go back to 04 or switch to competitors software.

I'm sorry, Joseph, but I do not see any logic in your suggestion that 2005
works better on newer machines. This is not a hardware compatibility issue
-- it is a downright poor programming issue from Microsoft.

I have 2004 installed on a four-year-old desktop (it works great) and also
on a six month old top-of-the-line Toshiba laptop (it also works great and
there are no differences in performance). I would almost bet you a dollar to
a donut that if I installed Microsoft Money 2005 on either one of my machines
I would also run into problems that had been reported numerous times on this
forum.

Someone once said on this forum that programming at Microsoft is now
controlled by marketing and advertising -- not by the zeal to make the
program the best and most user-friendly. Every year Microsoft will have an
update and every year there will be something new, but unfortunately the
project managers will not go back to fix the persistent bugs that have gained
a life of their own from version to version. This is just sloppy programming
and very poor project management.

I guess my choice would be to graft Yodlee into M04. Some people actually
seem to like the added number of FIs made possible by Yodlee. I can't recall
anyone who has shown up here raving about Essential *. Actually, the number
of problems to happiness caused by Essential * seem large.

At any rate, they aren't going to do it and M06 is in position and holding
on the runway and is just about to get takeoff clearance. Maybe M07 could be
M04 + Yodlee? I'm not holding my breath.

You are certainly not alone, but you need to remember that Money 04 is
solid on the machines and with the users that have used it for a while. It
may not be so solid on a new machine and 05 may be more reliable on a newer
machine than the 04 version.

In addition 05 has features (don't ask me, I have not looked for any
either) not present in 04. I believe it will interface better with some of
the newer on-line update sites that 04 for example. I have not liked
on-line update so it does not help me.

Default Money 2006 suggestion

Does anyone else think that MS should just take Money 2004 update the
colors and change the "04" to read "06"? Money 2004 is solid and
reliable. On the other hand, 2005 leaves a lot to be desired. I have
a sinking feeling that 2006 will "build upon" 2005 - sad.

All I want is simple 2 way banking with my banks and credit cards and
pretty graphs. I don't care about how much tax I will be paying 30
years from now or about setting up the ultimate budget. Am I alone on
this one?
