| Mark, Thanks for your response. The MSN Money Asset Allocator delivers suggestions for returns up to 11.5% This certainly comes closer to 13% then any other resource I've seen yet. | Richard, I certainly agree with your assessment that 8% to 10% is more attainable. Obviously one would also want to make sure that investment choices were regularly available. That said, I'm still curious what people would recommend insofar as an asset class distribution using the following asset classes: a.. Domestic Bonds b.. Global Bonds c.. Large Cap Stocks d.. Small Cap Stocks e.. International Stocks f.. Cash g.. Other Kind Regards, -- Colin M. I doubt such a return is reliably possible over the long term. In any event, you'd need to eliminate bonds and cash and focus on picking the right small cap and international investments. But if you do poorly, you could just as easily lose the whole thing. I think 10 to 8 % is a more reasonable return. -- "Colin M. | This is not a MS Money specific question. However, I thought this would be a fun group for this question. That said I'd be delighted to get feedback on the following: Goal: Achieve a 13% average investment return while minimizing risk as much as possible. This is a long-term investment and I'm certainly aware that risk is involved. Method: I'd like to use asset allocation and would like to break down my investments into the following asset classes: Domestic Bonds Global Bonds Large Cap Stocks Small Cap Stocks International Stocks Cash Other Question: What would be the recommended percentage allocation in each category? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Kind Regards, -- Colin M. McGroarty, MCSE, MCP+I, NT-CIP 2004 Microsoft MVP, Windows Server - General www.McGroarty.org |
