No doubt. That's not what I read the article to be talking about.

What about my nightly download of stock & MF quotes? Isn't Microsoft
providing a service here that costs them something?

I'm dying for the day Microsoft can get past the notion that all Money is
good for is to fetch information from banks and deliver us up to advertisers
and they can actually add some financial management functionality.

I'm just dying for the day when Money can connect to my bank twice in 24
hours without crapping out with some bogus error that blames the bank.

M06=M05 barely even reloaded. Yuck.

Re. "consider letting owners of older versions of Money pay an annual
service cost to defray the expense of supporting transaction downloads"

So this is the cost driver? And how is this the cost driver for versions
prior to M05? I.e., until M05 and Yodlee, why did a download from an FI cost
Microsoft anything? Why wasn't it entirely transparent to them???

I think an early July release is about as early as ever. It usually
comes out in September. I don't expect anything great but I will be
carefully reading this board for reviews. Is it possible that Microsoft
will surprise us? Naw, no way....Steve

They've never had much of anything on the web site until the day of release
for sale. It's frequently been available at retail before it was actually on
http://www.microsoft.com/money.

Sadly, I'm with the other side of you. It's not quite ten months since M05
released. How much could they have done, even if they wanted to? But I'm
betting the press release will use the word "great" at least three times and
the reviewers will love it.

So, they are releasing in a few weeks and nothing is on the Microsoft
website again this year??? I guess they are not proud of this version
either. A piece of me is excited saying that surely they fixed all the
things we complain about, then the other side of me just says, they don't
care and it will still be a buggy, feature depleted product.

I used to watch golf or baseball on TV when I couldn't fall asleep. Now
I'll just read the MS Money marketing materials.

I wonder whether this Anne Quaranta person ever lurks here?!? Maybe she just
hangs out in focus groups with people who've never actually used the thing.

You had that in M98. Show us even some cow hair.

"provides new online banking tools and an all-in-one solution for consumers

Gee, that sounds like M05 or earlier.

"enhanced spending tracker for managing expenses, the ability to pay bills
from multiple accounts, and greatly improved investment tracking features"

Yawn.

I don't know, but if that's the biggest hype they've got, it seems like
another year of thin gruel.

It has gotten to the point where I have more to fear from these upgrades
than I have to hope for.

In the case of Microsoft Money, I fear that each new version will make
it harder to avoid using Passport and Yodlee <spit> .

In the case of Intuit Quicken, I fear that each new version will make
it more difficult to get my financial data in and out of the program.

For now, Microsoft seems to be a better choice than Intuit. I am able
to do my online banking with Money 2005 without using Passport. But
Quicken 2005 restricts the use of .QIF files for getting data in and
out of the program. Intuit has "promised" that Quicken 2006 will make
it just about impossible. This is called data lock. It is not a good
thing.

"Yawn". . . . .

Looks like an "internet connectivity" upgrade for users of Money that are
expiring in their ability to do things online.

"The new version of Money adds the ability to pay multiple online bills
from different accounts in one place, ..."

Is it anything more than marketing hype?
