Yes. But I can only speak for M04: Tools > Options > Online Services.
Uncheck the following: 'Automatically mark accepted transactions as
reconciled (R)', and 'Automatically accept all downloaded transactions
from banking statements'. I'll guess it's something very close in M05.

P.S: The pros and cons of auto balancing were discussed a lot on here in
the past. There are a few good discussions if you search for "Auto
Balance".
