In looking for these, one factor is the form factor. I have an AVBon my key ring, and I really like that form factor. PNY, Simpletech have worked for me too. Memorex are probably quite good, but are a little clunky if you are plugging in among other things. Lexar ("Jumpdrive") and Sandisk are reliable names. I am confident that most others are quite good too. These gadgets are often on sale. Plan to have room for at least twice as much space as you need to hold a single backup file, since Money 2005 writes the new file before deleting the older one. Buying two and rotating at times is good. While failure is much less likely than with a floppy, it could happen. These are often featured in sales. Take advantage of those. I avoid any that offer a rebate. There are sales with no rebate if you watch. 64MB is adequate. 128 MB units give room to spare for most people. I keep one plugged into the computer at all times, an unplug and plug others as desired. And finally, you are supposed to use the SafelyRemoveHardware icon in your system tray before unplugging the device if you don't shut down the computer first. Typically nothing bad happens if you just pull the device out after a suitable delay. Still, you are supposed to use that icon. |

Plug the USB flash drive into a USB port on your computer. In Tools-> Settings-> BackupSettings where it now shows your floppy, use the drop-down list to choose the USB flash drive. |

I suggest you use a USB flash drive as the "floppy". It will be> having trouble backing up my money file to floopy disk! > I can do it but i need to delete, and clean, previously saved money file,,that > i saved on my floppy,,and it wouldnt override it!!someone please help,,is > something wrong with my floopy drive? > your help would be appreciated,,thx simpler, because you will not have to swap floppies. It will also be more reliable. Floppies are more failure-prone. |

| Many of us would argue that something is wrong with M05. See my argument (and it doesn't even ask how the Money team botched something so simple as a floppy disk backup) at http://umpmfaq.info/Money2005.htm. YMMV. At first I thought maybe this bit of stupidity was "by design" in M05. But if you have <1 floppy worth of backup, it works exactly as expected.
