| I'd buy the shares in one Buy. I'd add something like a "Miscellaneous eposit, Credit to Follow" (I already have this setup as anExpense category) in the amount of the second installment to a split transaction in the investment cash account transaction doing the buy. The total amount of the Buy transaction will be the amount of the first installment. This will put the "Miscellaneous eposit, Credit to Follow"Expense category in an Income position. Then I'd expense the second installment as "Miscellaneous eposit, Credit to Follow" in the investmentcash account cash account. The Buy will reflect the real world. The total spending/income in "Miscellaneous eposit, Credit to Follow" sets back tozero. All is well. I.e., First txn: Payee: Bob's Quick Shares, Amount: ($10,000) memo: first installment payment. Split: Buy Investment/CD:Buy 2,000 MegaEverythingCo [at] $10, Inv Account: My Inv Acct ($20,000) Miscellaneous eposit, Credit to Follow $10,000Second txn: Payee: Bob's Quick Shares, Amount: ($10,000) memo: second installment payment.
