"My full CD version is: 14.0.120.730" upi were referring to the laptop? You cannot get that to update to 14.0.120.1105, or you can't even get to the stage where you can create a new Money file and check the version. Try creating a new administrative XP user on the laptop. Install Money 2005 as that user. Make sure the Money gets updated to version *.1105 by having the laptop connected to the internet and doing updates. Only then return to your original XP user, and try using your file from the trial on the desktop. |

I have, even tried installing to a directory on the second HD> Initially have Money create a new Money file rather than work with > an existing one. I still get the same error message during loading. My big problem now, is to get M2005 Full UK Edition on my notebook, to read files from the M2005 UK Trial Edition on my desk computer, if I cannot do this, I have lost my bank statements dating back to 2001 or before. The notebook edition backup files made when trying to open the file are named 2004. The trial edition was downloaded three weeks ago, after the desk computer loading failed. According to |

| Tried again Unloaded trial version, went into 'clean boot' mode, ttried loading same error message, "some components' could not be loaded". Checked the directory, the Money icon was not the usual blue/white M Further problem: Now the files I have made on the UK Trial version, will not open on my Notebook! According to the error, the UK Trail Version is 2004 and therefore cannot be open, it suggests that I do a 'repair', which does not work. If I could open these files on the notebook, i would be happy. Why does the trial version load on the desktop, but my UK Full version (tried both CD's) will not. I had the same promblem with MS Active Synch 7, but 8 runs OK. Thanks your help. | Hi Bob UPDATE Desk Computer - HP Pavilion M2005 - downloaded trial (14.0.10.1105) running, with 6 days to go, synchs. with my PDA OK M2005 - Full British Edition will not load, error message says 'some components could not be loaded, try again', only files in the directory are the three instruction files. Try loading on separate HD, tried on both HD's in 'clean boot' mode. There must be a DLL conflict or something. How come demo loads, but not the CD version? Notebook : HP M2005 - Full British running ok. As I cannot load M2005 full (purchased edition) I cannot open any files. I have purchased two programs, both are the British editions. Both computers are XP Home Spanish - both running similar s/ware. | If you open the sample.mny file that should load Money and let you check the versions in Help > About. Sample.mny usually lives in the same directory as your main money file. Money is not backwards compatible so M2001 cannot read M2005 data files. The password request is a somewhat cryptic way of telling you this. When you upgraded to M2005 it made a copy of your M2001 file as *.mn9 (I think). | Things have just got a lot worse. I tried installing it on my 2nd HD, still would not run. Now the files that I have been using on the demo version, cannot be opened on the full working version on my notebook. I have been using computers for years and MS since Windows 2.1, but Money 2005 must be the most crap software I have ever purchased. I should have stuck with Money 2003, but I needed to upgrade so I could use it on my PDA. I now have two copies that I cannot use!
