It is probably late to suggest this, but perhaps a recovery program could find the .mny file or another backup on your formatted hard drive. Ideally you would run the recovery program on a different computer that has the formatted drive temporarily installed as an additional drive. So you would stop operating on that computer so you don't overwrite something that is not already overwritten. That would be a slim hope that you had not already overwritten your data. How large is the .mbf file? Think back. Did you burn a copy of your .mny or .mbf files to another CDR a while back? Did you back up to a USB Flash drive at some point? - quote - > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, rob wrote: > > > > I made a backup of my money file to a CDR because I was going to format my > > > hard drive. | Ok, didn't realize that about the update. As I just posted it is version 12.0 update 1. I have the sample file open now hoping that it will want to update, but nothing so far. | "Update Now" is to update share prices and currencies and is not what you need. What you need is an update to the actual Money 2005 program. This is not something you can initiate by pressing a button. You just need to open the Money 2005 program, with the sample.mny file, while connected to the internet and the update should be offered to you automatically. I recently changed to a new PC and the update was offered within a few seconds and I think took about 1 min on a 1Mbs connection to be completed once I agreed to accept it. I don't know if it is always that quick. |
