| Since the TR values are based upon "your" price entries and the historical prices, what does the price history (Update Price Manually) show for this fund? It may be that there is an erroneously lower value at the beginning of the period or a bad higher value at the end, or you may have an inaccurate dividend amount or duplicate. -Mark "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message news:ip6aa1hlv3cdnn1ucqblgh0j79dfp7o8gj[at]4ax.com... - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, Ross wrote: > > I do not have AddShares transactions -I have buys. > It closed 2004 at $83.36. It closed 2004 at $83.36. It closed today at $82.56. It had $.46dividend Friday 3 June (ex-dividend date), Had you no trades during that interval, that would seem like -0.42% total return by my calculation. That would be a -0.96% NAV drop, but the dividend would make up the difference.. It is hard to see how you could have 8% TR YTD even if you had loaded up with shares at the lows for the year, although http://personal.fidelity.com/product...html?315912204 shows a -0.54 YTD return. Perhaps they are assuming a reinvestment of shares over the weekend, and a small gain today. However 8.4 seems pretty close to the TR YR value. Could you be looking at that data rather than TR YTD? - quote - > Ross > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, Ross wrote: > > > > I have Sparten 500 (FSMKX), a mutual fund that closely tracks the S&P 500. > > > In Yahoo Finance, the YTD return for this fund is -4.01%. I am not going to look that fund up right now. See below.> In Yahoo Finance, the YTD return for this fund is -4.01%. In MS Money, it is > 8.4%. - quote - > Do you know why the ROI in MS Money is not the same as what's shown in Yahoo
When you invest additional dollars in the fund, do you do that with> Finance? I suspect that MS Money is counting the additional dollars I invest > as return in the ROI calculation, but that's just a guess. Also, it seems > silly; why would MS Money not differentiate between money the investment > returns and money that is invested into an account? a Buy transaction? If not, you should. If you have AddShares transactions, they should be Buys. |

| I have Sparten 500 (FSMKX), a mutual fund that closely tracks the S&P 500. In Yahoo Finance, the YTD return for this fund is -4.01%. In MS Money, it is 8.4%. Do you know why the ROI in MS Money is not the same as what's shown in Yahoo Finance? I suspect that MS Money is counting the additional dollars I invest as return in the ROI calculation, but that's just a guess. Also, it seems silly; why would MS Money not differentiate between money the investment returns and money that is invested into an account? |
