Payee Rules Manager first came out in Money 2003. That is why I had
amended my first try with "Ignore the Payee Rules Manager portion of
the post. Money 2002 does not have that."

Back again, still tired, busted, and disgusted,

Still experiencing the same problem. My downloaded statement info assigns
to the incorrect payee. Looking at your suggestion I see in Money 2002 -
Categories and Payees, Payees, but no Payee Rule Manager. Seems like the
place to go to fix the problem, but do not see in Money 2002. Any other
ideas. It's really driving me crazy and I've had some other payees
incorrectly assigned as well.

Help!

Thanks Cal Learner--MVP,

I took a look and have unchecked the box "replace downloaded payee names
with user-altered names when available.

I also modified the entry in the category window to reflect the correct
payee which in turn changed the transaction on my account list (that's a good
thing).

I guess I'll have to spend some money at Rite Aid to see if it now comes
across unchanged as Rite-Aid.

Thanks again,
Brose

Ignore the Payee Rules Manager portion of the post. Money 2002 does
not have that.

If appropriate, you could create a New preferred payee name to
associate with a particular downloaded Payee Name Variation.

Go to
Accounts&Bills-> Categories&Payees-> Payees-> PreferredPayeeNames
which shows how downloaded names are translated into Payees.
Record the Payee Name Variation(s) shown for payee Rite Aid. Delete
the entries that are not necessarily Rite Aid.

Then click on GoToPayeeRulesManager. Excluded Payee Names
identifies words and phrases that should be ignored from the payee
field (e.g., check, deposit). Was one or more of those names
associated with Rite Aid a generic term? If so Add each such generic
word or phrase that was listed as a Payee Name Variation that you
recorded as an Excluded Payee Name.

While you are at it, it is usually a good idea to select
Tools-> Options-> OnlineServices-> ReplacePayeeNames....

You may want to set
Tools-> Options-> OnlineServices-> AddADescriptionToTheMemoField

Default Money 2002 - merged transactions

After going online to download account activity, Money tried to match two
transactions (from two different payees and two different amounts). I
thought I had differentiated that they were two separate transactions. Now
everytime I receive an online transacation from this payee (Rite Aid) Money
always assigns it to the other (incorrect) payee. How can I get this back on
track.
