I have the same problem for M04. I spent hours learning to use and setup the
program to end up with an inept budget tool. I will not waste more time on
this garbage! I plan on getting quicken.

Not the exact symptom, but the work-around is what Chris mentions.

I did a Goggle search but it is not easy to find a solution. Can you
remember another work around?

There's an ugly workaround related to moving the current bill and all
historical transactions to a new, slightly renamed category, removing the
old category from the budget, then deleting it. It's cumbersome but it
works. There are caveats that I can't remember but you should be able to
find them by searching Google.

I doesnt make sense to get a piece of software for Financial Management and
then to use Excel for that!
It should be a way to work around this problem. Microsoft, come on!

I have had this problem for several years, and I've never figured
out how to get rid of it. I've also reported it to Microsoft for
M02, M03 and M04. I tested this problem in M05 also. It's not
been fixed.

This is one of those things that I've just gotten used to.

If I really need to know a completely accurate number, I export the
budget report to excel and tweak the misbehaving number.
