| 6/9 is the earliest the payment can get from your bank to the payee. That is mostly determined by the whether the payee is able to receive electronic payment from your bank, or whether your bank must print a check and physically mail the check to the payee. Today being the 3rd, it sounds like the latter. Here's some helpful info: A bank's bill payment system is setup to match a Payee name and address that you enter, against a list maintained by the bill pay system, ... using a matching algorithm that they do not explain very clearly. Let's say you have a Visa card that is branded as "American Airlines Visa". It's actually offered by "US Bank", and the payment address on the monthly statement is "Card Services, ... St. Louis, MO". Which of these three do you setup as the payee name? The overriding rule is use the name and address on the statement, where the payment would be sent if the bank had to mail the payment using a hardcopy check. All this is standard so far. But, here's what I've been doing: Go to your bank's website, and poke around in their 'Add a New Payee to your list' function. Look for a match on any of the names, and if you find any, in all likely hood that means that the name you found will accept an ePay, which usually take 1-2 days as opposed to 6-10 days. Note, don't setup the payee on the bank's website, but do set it up in Money, using the exact spelling for the name/match you found. In my case, I had an airline-branded visa card, the bank behind it was US Bank, and the statements said sent to Card Services, Fargo, SD. For the longest time these payments went through as the bank printing a check, and mailing the check to the payment address I input, a six or eight day turnaround. But once I poked around on the my bank's bill pay webpage, and found this cryptic sounding payee named "US BANK CREDIT CARD". The next month I tried it, and ever since it's been an ePay that takes one day turnaround. The bottom line in that when you attempt an electronic bill payment through Money, Money sends a message to your bank, and your bank sends a message back to money indicating the earliest date the payment can be made, based on whether it will be an ePay or a hardcopy check the bank will send. | I am in the middle of setting up Money 2005 for the first time. I just tried to send out a test electronic bill payment. What I do not understand is that the payment date has two options: ASAP that shows a date of 6/9/2005 and other date that shows a date of 6/13/2005. Why can I not send out a payment for today? If I put in Mondays date 6/6/2005 the error I get is "Your account has not been authorized for this payment" I have confirmed with HSBC that I am setup for Bill payment service. Does anyone have any ideas? Ryan |
