Do you mean you changed "GLD & SPCL MNRLS" to "GLD SPCL MNRLS"?

Plus you removed the <INTU.BID> line including the number that
follows?

Plus you renamed the file to *.ofx.

And you still have the problem when you do File-> Import of the
modified file? There must well be a second problem in that file.
There is an OFX checker that you could try if those things were not
sufficient.

Aha! Fortunately that is probably the easiest-to-find error in OFX
files.

The ampersand is a special character as it is used as a lead-in
character for certain sequences.

To make that company name appear as gold&minerals, that should be
replaced with gold&minerals. The OFX specification requires
that. You could change it to gold+minerals, gold and minerals or
whatever before importing. Be consistent for next time.

If you think the company you download from cares, you could bring it
up with them. One of you will learn something in the process. If you
want a spec reference, let us know.

Perhaps the file is corrupted.

Does it start with
______________________________
OFXHEADER:100
DATA:OFXSGML
VERSION:102
SECURITY:NONE
ENCODING:USASCII
CHARSET:1252
COMPRESSION:NONE
OLDFILEUID:NONE

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="US-ASCII"?
<?OFX OFXHEADER="200" VERSION="200" some_more_stuff<OFX=============================== =====================

except for perhaps lack of newlines?

Also check for the presence of any ampersand "&" characters.
