I don't download.

In answer to your question, it's not strictly **necessary**. I do find it
useful simply because that way I can tell what's real, what's exchange
rate--particularly from time to time, and what's fees. (As noted previously,
I can be kinda anal about throwing good data away, no matter how useful
retention of that data might seem.) My employer also collects this data, for
business travel reimbursement, separately and in the currency of the
transaction.

Given the exchange rate premiums and fees the credit card companies charge,
I can see why they wouldn't want you looking at them terribly hard.

Is that information necessary? The credit card download will always be in
the account's home currency -- forex and fees will have already been
applied.

Each account in Money has a designated currency and all transactions in that
account are expected to be in that currency. This works great until you,
say, charge stuff with a USD credit card in a foreign currency. Then, unless
you do something complicated, all exchange rate information is simply lost.

Default RE: US and UK accounts?

I have been reading through these posts all day and from what I can see it
does.
As I am in Australia, I hoped it was the case here - but it's not
unfortunately. So you guys in the US and UK can happely enjoy your automatic
transactions while we stone and chissel over here ;-)
