Last post you said you had Money 2005.

Whichever it is, how is your backup file situation?

Using "File-> Import..." and then selecting the ofx file I get the followign
error:
The file you attempted to import appears to be invalid or contains corrupt
data. Please download the file again. If this problem continues, contact your
financial institution."

I have Money 2004 ... this used to work though ???? Puzzled!

I created a test file. After establishing CAD as the currency for
the account, I was able to download the OFX file you posted without
error.

I used File-> Import-> DownloadStatement.

I used to be able to download ofx files but for some reason I get a corrupt
message also now. The analyser runs fine.
Why isn't Money 2005 able to import the file?

Follows content of ofx file

That would seem to explain things: "NOTE: If you use the wrong
version of the analyzer, or try to use this utility on a computer
that does not have Money installed, you will receive the following
error: ERROR -- Parser Unable To Load"

You might load the Money 2005 trial onto that computer and then try
the analyzer.

Nuts, I was hoping this could be used by anyone to analyze ofx
files. But that explains it; thanks for the help.

I should have paid better attention.

I had not thought about it, but I suspect that is it.
http://www.microsoft.com/money/fi/forOFXPartners.mspx says
===========================================

OFXAnlyz04.exe - last updated 01/27/04
Use this utility if Money 2004 was the last version installed on
your machine.

OFXAnlyz03.exe - last updated 7/18/02
Use this utility if Money 2003 was the last version installed on
your machine.

NOTE: If you use the wrong version of the analyzer, or try to use
this utility on a computer that does not have Money installed, you
will receive the following error: ERROR -- Parser Unable To Load

Actually, looking at my situation with a little more thought; I
should have asked if this tool expects *any* version of money to
be installed. When I ran the test of the import of my ofx file,
I ran in on a different pc than the one where the analyzer is
installed. I have the analyzer installed on a pc with no
version of money installed ... does that matter?

I'm not the op; I don't have Money2005, just 2002. I was just
trying to learn more about the analyzer (and maybe OFX); sorry
if I unintentionally misled you. Does this tool expect a newer
version of Money to be installed before it will work correctly?

Yes.

I think it means that you start counting with the <OFX> line. You
are not getting far enough with the analysis to get an error
associated with a line number however.

- quote -

> The ofx file in question appears to "import" successfully into

That is odd. Yet you get an error (what error was that?) when you
File-> Import that same file into Money 2005.

Does your file end with "</OFX> "?

Here is an OFX file that passes OFXAnlyz04.exe. Copy the lines
between the "=============" lines into a file named DIS_SK4.OFX. See
if you can parse it thru OFXAnlyz04.exe successfully. It is a
special purpose OFX file, not one that was downloaded from an FI.

Ok, tried that, but it did not alter the results.

What does "*** All line number references do not include header
lines ***" mean?

The ofx file in question appears to "import" successfully into
Money2002.

Your isp doesn't have to carry this group. Set up msnews.microsoft.com as a
separate account.

You might be able to just hold the shift key down in IE6 when you
click to download it.

Alternately, you can get a box with a button allowing you to save to
disk rather than feeding the OFX file directly to Money.

Start-> Settings-> ControlPanel-> FolderOptions-> FileTypes

Select OFX-- Open Financial Exchange File .

Click Advanced. Check Confirm Open After Download to get the pop-up
box. Save the file to disk, and then analyze.

Try removing the line above, and let the following OFXHEADER line be
the first line in the file:

I did use browse to open the file. And the analyzer was able to "View"
it; and I did too in Wordpad ... looked like an ofx file to me, though
I did not scrutinize it closely.

It is certainly not normal.

I get that same pop-up message if I choose a file that is not an OFX
file, or even if I enter the filename of a file that does not exist.

I suggest you Browse to the file rather than entering it into the
box.

If that does not solve it, copy and paste the contents of the file
up to, but not including <BANKID> or <ACCTID> (so that we can see
that it looks like a proper OFX file to that point) into a follow-on
post.

If that does not provide sufficient info, you might edit a copy of
the file and overwrite each bit of potentially personal info
,amounts, etc with a "?" character. You would paste that into a
posting.

Sorry for the previous empty post; using Google since my isp doesn't
carry this group and I unintentionally hit the wrong key.

I downloaded the analyzer and tried it on a couple of ofx files; found
the results odd.

I consistently get "File failed parse" (in a message box) then the
underlying app dialog box says:
*** All line number references do not include header lines ***
***OFX 1.02 Add ~10
***OFX 2.0 Add ~2
Running Data Through Parser
ERROR -- Parser Unable To Load

I got this from at least two ofx files downloaded from two different
fi's. Is this normal? Can you help interpret? Does it imply anything
serious?
