Default Re: merging money files

I'm unhappy to have to say I don't have high hopes. The Money team seems to
be working on a three year cycle. Year 1: major change, year 2: cleanups,
year 3: next to nothing different, repeat. (All indications I see suggest
that the next major cycle will no longer even be a WinApp.) They were
talking publicly about an M06 beta less than six months after they foisted
M05 on the world. That leave about a month or two **max** from the first
public reaction to M05 until M06 had to be virtually complete. How much
could they have done? They probably had to spend most of the time working on
the second M05 mega patch. I'm sure they'll fix some of the worst bugs still
in M05--and can call them "Great" new features, no doubt--but I'd be shocked
if anything fundamental changes or if it reverses any of the strategic
direction towards dumbing it down, subtly and not-so-subtly migrating Money
users toward the web, and adding more ads everywhere. I'll be curious to see
if it still moves Food:Groceries to Groceries on a file update. It won't
shock me if they didn't even change that.

I can comment in complete an unencumbered ignorance; I declined a personal
invite to beta test the thing. Heck, I fell like I'm still beta testing M04.

Dick - do you expect M06 to be better or worse than M05? I run M02, and
really have seen little in the way of new usual features (I'm in NZ), and
just reports of annoying adverts and slowness in later versions.

M04 may well end up representing the pinnacle of development for Money as a
stand-alone application. No, I'm not a big fan of M05.

Glad you found a way to do what you wanted. Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for this, with a little input from me it did exactly what I wanted.

I see from your site you don't rate Money 5 - which do you feel is the
"best" version?

regards

Default merging money files

Hi

Does anyone know if it is possible to incorporate or merge two different
Money files?

I just found a file which goes back further than my current file & would
like to have the data accessible.

Cheers
