| They may upload a subset. I'd bet a cold one that they don't upload the whole file. Mine's pushing 60MB. Even on my DSL, that'd take quite a while to upload. On a dialup, it might never complete. Are you using Yodlee? I don't like downloading transactions that much. I don't like the idea that my entire Money file can be surrupticiously uploaded to the MSN website without being told that it's happening. |

| Better that than stuff for my major ego, if it's anything like the regular mail, which I increasingly have to shred before anyone sees it. And -- in response to the other post -- I actually LIKE being able to download transactions. To me, that's half the point of using personal finance software. However, I do agree that it is getting to be a less positive experience than it used to be. That, IMO, is unfortunate, because it had a lot of potential, before the trend started turning toward merchandising rather than customer service. smh "Dick Watson" <littlegreengecko[at]mind-enufalready-spring.com> wrote in message news:%23zrPYDvVFHA.2700[at]TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl... - quote - > Now you will get marketing targeted to your alter ego. > "harrelsonesq" <harrelsonesq2[at]yahoo.com> wrote in message > news 0Cge.9974$D91.5667[at]fed1read01...> > I still lied though. |

| MS Money is a pretty good program. The key to enjoying it is 1. Completely AVOID Passport. Your experience argues for this. 2. Completely AVOID Yodlee. This is automatic if your avoid Passport. 3. Keep (back up) one or more versions of your data file. The goal is to always have a (slightly old) version that is not corrupt. So far, one backup copy has sufficed for me. Your mileage may vary. -- David Arnstein arnstein+usenet[at]pobox.com |

| I just did something stupid (again) and want to warn everybody else who signs iinto their Money file with a passport. (I know, Dick, I know) It took a few annoying minutes to fix, but I want to save someone else the trouble. I don't subscribe to MSN, but I have used the My MSN page since it debuted in 1996 or thereabouts. It was much better then, but that's another gripe. Today, when I clicked on its shortcut in my Favorites menu, I was confronted by a new sign-in screen, asking intrusive personal questions. I don't like answering stuff like my birth date, & generally try to BS them one way or another, so when I saw, below the "year" field, "Example: 1999," I decided to get cute & enter "1999." Well, then it thought I was a child, & told me I needed my parents' permission to sign in. I started that process, but it got even more intrusive than it had been in the first instance, & I said something like "screw this" but not quite, & quit. I was sorry I wouldn't be able to use My MSN anymore, but not that sorry. Then it struck me. Sure enough, I couldn't open my Money file. Until, that is, I went back & answered all the intrusive stuff I had balked at before, plus more of the same, to prove I was really an adult. Now I can access my data again. I still lied though.
