| Yes, though in M05 you will have to pay close attention to figure out where it is asking if you want to do anything out of the ordinary. | Can I assume the installer will automatically let me change directories before proceeding with installation? (As most do)? Yes.> M2005 in parallel and operate both for a period of time to determine > whether I want to "upgrade"? Are there any tricks to doing so? Start by copying your Money 2004 file to a different name such as Charlie05.mny. Install Money 2005 into a different! You cannot have both open at the same time. The last-installed will be associated with the file-types such as ..mny, .mbf, .qif, .ofx, etc. When you first open Money 2005, let Money create a new file. Let the updates occur. Only after you see you have version 14.0.*.1105 when you do Help-> About, do File-> Open of charlie05.mny. Open the other by clicking on the program shortcut rather than a file shortcut. Money remembers the last-used file and will default to opening that one. You could do shortcuts with targets such as the following lines: "D:\Program Files\Money 2004\System\MSMONEY.EXE" charlie04.mny "D:\Program Files\Money 2005\System\MSMONEY.EXE" charlie05.mny Keep an extra backup of your .mny files... never a bad idea. |

| Yes you can do it but a) you need to install each in it's own directory and b) you MUST have a 2004 file and a 2005 file. You can't read the M2005 file in M2004.. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. | Someone gave me a copy of M2005 they got for free (rebate offer) and do not use. I'm running M2004 and have been reading this forum for a while and know there are some issues, that sometimes occur, with M2005 that I do not experience with M2004. My question is, can I install M2005 in parallel and operate both for a period of time to determine whether I want to "upgrade"? Are there any tricks to doing so? |
