I got the same letter. Shows you how much the people in Customer Service
know. And the girl I talked to asked her supervisor!

Too bad we got bad information from MS. But it doesn't surprise me. They
probably have special packaging and a special price for Sam's Club.

I prefer to get the discount at the time of purchase rather than the hassle
of sending in the rebate stuff and waiting for the check.

Did not work. I just got a letter from MS indicating that the purchase from
Sam's is already discounted.

I'm bummed.

O, what the hell, it's only Money ... :-)

To use MSN Alerts (reminders about accounts and investments delivered to the
cell phone, e-mail, or desktop), you need a Passport account associtaed with
the Money file.

I don't use Passport and Money. So, it's of no use to me ...

How about the new alerts center - is that a worthwhile improvement?

Well, I sprung for it and bought M2004 and installed it.

At this time, it appears to be not even worth the $2.76 !! to upgrade. And
it looks and behaves EXACTLY like M2003.

My bank has free bill pay, so that will not be of any benefit to me. Maybe
H&R Block, but I was going to switch back to Turbo Tax (now that they have
removed that CDilla junk).

Ah well, like I said, it's play money ..

Yes, I had the same misgivings. But she told me I didn't even NEED the form.
I could just write the promotion number (get it from the form you
downloaded) on a 3x5 index card!

I'm proceeding with the purchase [at] Sam's club, based on your phone call to
the 800 number on the downloadable rebate form. I do have misgivings,
though. The form clearly says that only original rebate forms are eligible.

I called the 800 number listed on the coupon. The woman told me that the
downloaded coupon IS valid. I explained that it did NOT come from the MS web
site. She said that didn't matter.

She added that if I was concerned about the "copy" issue to just write the
promotion number on a plain 3x5 index card with my name and address below,
and a note that there was no coupon in the box.

She also said that Sam's Club was NOT on any list of ineligible vendors.

I sent in the coupon with my receipt and box-top. I wrote a note at the
bottom that there was no coupon in the box. We'll see what happens... If I
get the rebate, that will lower the cost from $32.76 (+tax) to $12.76.

PS: The coupon itself says "Only original coupons will be accepted.", but I
guess it's worth a 37 cent stamp to try...

Sam's Club has it for $32 and you can download a $20 MS Money Rebate
off of the web, making it a Whopping $12.

You get free HR Block efiling-which I use TaxCut anyway for.

I say go for it!!!!

Aloke,

That's why I posted, it is exactly what I did. It probably doesn't
hurt that I have great a customer relationship with the local Staples.
You are correct, a lot of stores won't price match Sam's Club,
because of it not being a standard retail store. I was probably
just very lucky, but also happy to save a couple $$.

Laters,
Dick

Have you actually done this? Lot's of places don't match Sam's Club prices,
citing that you have to be a member etc. and it is not a regular retail
place ...

Sam's Club $32.74, 110% price match at Staples:
$49.94 - 18.92 = $31.02 less $20 rebate = $11.02. Of course
we have a 37¢ stamp and the tax. Not too bad though.

So, it comes down to watching for local promotions by Staples, CompUSA,
etc..

The Deluxe Retail box has $20+$10 rebates inside.. right?

We don't have Costco in Columbus, OH :-(

Last week, Staples had Money 2004 Deluxe for $29.99 after a $10
instant rebate and $20 mail-in rebate. This week, BestBuy has that
same offer. I haven't checked the local Sam's Club, etc.

At Costco it is $46.00 (plus tax of course) less $30 mail-in rebate makes it
~$16.99
