| My Amex downloads are not creating the duplicate account anymore. I restored from a backup that was created before the issue, and my new updates work great. Thanks for keeping us all up-to-date on the issue |

| Thanks. Few minutes on Google saved me all the work to figure out what to do with this second duplicate account :-) |

| Amex seems to have fixed the problem. For those who have closed the duplicate accounts, a new update will not remove them. What needs to be done is: 1. Disable online services for Amex. 2. Delete the duplicate unwanted accounts. 3. Enable online services for Amex. 4. One new account will be downloaded; merge it with your pre-existing Amex account. -- Michael Gordon MVP "Michael Gordon, MVP" <gordonm[at]denison.edu> wrote in message news:O4$ZKz8OFHA.1476[at]TK2MSFTNGP09.phx.gbl... - quote - > Hi Pamela, > Don't know when the issue will be resolved - AMEX is working on it. | Hi Pamela, Don't know when the issue will be resolved - AMEX is working on it. Two ways to deal with it: 1. close the additional accounts 2. do a web download -- for some reason, this seems to avoid the problem. As soon as I know anything, I'll post it here. -- Michael Gordon MVP "psoberg" <pamela[at]johnsonprop.com> wrote in message news:1112831841.311909.133420[at]l41g2000cwc.googlegroups.com... - quote - > Michael, > Am having the same trouble with AMEX accounts, only I didn't check the > web for postings like this one prior to contacting MS. | Michael, Am having the same trouble with AMEX accounts, only I didn't check the web for postings like this one prior to contacting MS. Do you know when this issue might be resolved? MS has not responded to my request as of 7:00 PM CDT. Regards, Pamela |

| AXP's internet dept certainly knew of it earlier than last night -- my original post was after confirming the issue with them. Folks I spoke to were willing to concede that it might be their problem. -- Michael Gordon MVP "Money 2005 User" <Money 2005 User[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:723D30DA-BBE3-4F23-8D27-796E0069FE1F[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > Is there any estimated time when this issue will be fixed? > I called American Express Internet dept last night (before finding this > post) and they knew nothing of this issue. | Microsoft is very aware of the problem. The very first tech that I got this morning was perfectly aware of the problem and said it was 100% their issue. It does appear that if you close the duplicate accounts, downloading will no longer populate those registers. |

| Is there any estimated time when this issue will be fixed? I called American Express Internet dept last night (before finding this post) and they knew nothing of this issue. They said I should contact Microsoft and get them to fix the problem. |

| Yes, that will work. But even after the server problem is fixed, the new downloaded accounts will still be there. Deleting them will involve disabling online services, then deleting them, then re-enabling online services. -- Michael Gordon MVP <cpemberton2[at]hotmail.com> wrote in message news:1112723089.175193.22080[at]l41g2000cwc.googlegroups.com... - quote - > A workaround (worked for me anyway) is to close the new downloaded > accounts and leave the old ones that were working correctly. | A workaround (worked for me anyway) is to close the new downloaded accounts and leave the old ones that were working correctly. After that, the downloads continue as before, into the established accounts. | A problem has developed with OFX downloads from American Express into Money 2005: the download separates supplemental cards (whether active or cancelled) into separate accounts. So one winds up with several different accounts which cannot be merged (because they are separate) and cannot be deleted (without deleting the original account). People are aware of this - a server issue - and working on a fix. Best thing to do is not download into American Express until the issue is fixed. Easiest was to determine whether it's fixed is to create a new money file, add Amex as a credit card, and see how many accounts download. When only one downloads, it should be safe to resume normal downloads. -- Michael Gordon MVP |
