As you note, I see that they have limited M05 to 1 year of free support by toll call and email. M06 indicates free support without time limit, as does M03 and M04. I might infer that this says something about their perception of the quality of M05, but I suspect M06 will sooner or later indicate the same thing. - quote - > It's only free via email for the first year and email support hardly ever

| I really don't know anything about Quicken. But the few people I do know who use Quicken are pretty content with it over Money. I've used MS money ever since at least 99' and for the most part, I'm pretty happy. I've never had a reason to think of using another program. I was just pissed off spending all that time last night trying to figure this out (plus some more time today). But if you are trying to tell me that MS support is pretty good and free? It's only free via email for the first year and email support hardly ever offers real solutions that you haven't already tried. Also, what would be the purpose of all these forums? People obviously are having difficulties with some of the programs, as with any other software from any other company, and need help to find a solution to the problem. | Do you mean here on the forum? If so, your statement is correct, but try to get Quicken help from Intuit without giving them your credit card number. MS Money tech support is free, if you call them. On the occasions I've needed to, it usually was helpful. That's not always the case, but it is, usually. | This newsgroup is NOT a vehicle for Microsoft-to-user support. If you want that, go to http://support.microsoft.com. And if you want to go to Quicken expecting Intuit's customer service to be better, by all means go for it. http://www.buy.com/retail/product.as...400&spf=1&sp=1. I don't recall ONE former user of Quicken ever showing up here and saying Microsoft and this newsgroup gave poorer support than anything they ever got from Intuit. | Try Money 04. You can export to IF from 05, then import multiple accounts simultaneously into 04. A bit of a hassle but I think you'll find it suits your needs better, especially considering the problems it's causing for you. | Thanks for the feedback. I am intrugued on why they did not even allow the option of closing the account in Money and then not having it download. I have seen many complaints where people try to close an account, many are brokerage accounts, mark them closed but the program is still trying to download the accounts. It seems like a really bad upgrade. | It appears that Microsoft got feedback from the Warm Body Focus Groups that setting all of these accounts up was Such A Hassle. So, in the Yodlee design, they set it up for "what they see is what you get". Apparently, it never occurred to them that cases like yours might exist or would be worth worrying about. | I am complaining about ms$05. I am very surprised that they would change the workings of the program like this in an upgrade. This makes it unusable for a number of people. It would not be that hard to make it an option to delete individual accounts. Thanks "Chris Cowles" wrote: - quote - > I assume you're complaining about MS$05. | I assume you're complaining about MS$05. If you can find a copy of MS$04, you can selectively disable accounts at the same bank. That assumes the bank supports direct statements or online banking. Not all banks do, but you can access some of those only by using 05. | It's not a question of the programming. It's the whole marketing approach that drives the requirements the coders implement. They do these focus groups with warm bodies dragged in off the streets to find out what "Most Users Prefer(tm)" instead of asking actual users--while ignoring decade-old wish list inputs from actual users. It can't possibly get better from there. "HWM" <HWM[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:233E1380-C24A-4CE4-9D8E-F755057C715D[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > THIS IS NUTS. | I am trying to close some accounts in Money because they are commercial accounts I have with the same bank as my personal accounts. I do not want my commercial accounts downloading into my personal money file. I have read several reports of the same issue I am having. I am a signer on multiple accounts at a bank, most of which are commercial accounts. One writes 4,000 payroll checks every other week. I have 2 personal accounts and 36 business accounts. I do not want money to download the commercial transactions into my personal money software. I have shown those accounts as closed but Money '05 continues to download the transactions. I can not delete individual accounts because it will delete all of them from that bank. Money '04 could select accounts to update. I am too far into this to go back as I did not realize for a while this was happening and can not go back to '04 and reenter all of my transactions. Please listen Microsoft.....THIS IS NUTS. IT IS VERY BAD PROGRAMMING. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT THEY WERE SO UNWILLING TO WRITE THE CODE BETTER. TAKE A LITTLE MORE TIME AND WRITE THE CODE A LITTLE BETTER. (Yes I was yelling) I have not downloaded for 2 weeks. It took me 10 minutes to download and my accounts have been updating for 30 minutes now. The file size has grown tremendously (TODAY - 193 MEG)and I am sure it will get corrupted again sometime. The only way to keep my file size reasonable 10-15mg is by archiving every time I download. My last download was 190 meg becuse of the commercial accounts. I would love it if anyone else had a fix for this, but I am sure noone will because microsoft made a bad decision. Before some of you think I am a Microsoft basher I am not. I personally use almost all Microsoft products at home on Win XP Pro , even on my mac and have used Money over Quicken since 1998-99 or so. IN my company we have standardized on many MS products. This is just a bad implimentation and needs to be fixed. Hal McCoy |
