Check Confirm Open After Download unless you would not like the pop-up box. That is the one that gives you the choice. See that the "Actions" box contains "Open" in bold. If it is not bold, you can select Open as the default action by clicking the Set Default button. Click Edit. When you click edit, the application used to perform action should be the following line: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money 2004\System\mnyimprt.exe" %1 WITH the quotes, and the %1 after the quote. The path will differ based on your installation. Modify for your setup. Application should be mnyimprt with the appropriate path. The easy way to fix this may be to reinstall Money. |

| Some banks use different login information for their online services and their web based services - not sure whether it would be the case in your instance. You might need to check with the bank this fact (or look at any online FAQ that they may have). With the bottom half of your message (which I almost missed), take a look at http://money.mvps.org/faq/article/29.aspx. This is the method most prevalent in the UK, and given the choice, i'd go with OFX as it can handle duplicate downloads of information better. -- Glyn Simpson, Microsoft MVP - Money http://money.mvps.org Check http://money.mvps.org/faq for tips and fixes for MS Money. | Hi all - I used Money V3 for many years and recently moved to 2004 to get online banking features. I do not want, under any circumstances, to use MSN or Passport or anything like them, just the services offered directly by the banks. Money successfully finds my bank in its list, and when I ask it to Setup Online Services for that bank, it presents me with a screen asking for the username and PIN (password). Money insists that the PIN be exactly 4 digits, which is fine for now because I'm using a temporary PIN assigned by the bank. But the bank says that if I change the PIN/password, it must be a minimum of 6 characters. Does Money get its "must be" length from something the bank tells it, or is that generic? In any case, using the same credentials that work correctly on the bank web site, Money can't seem to connect, and so can't complete the Setup Online Services process. It indicates that it's "updating account info", then stops, saying that I should check the username and PIN. I've also tried it while also online with the bank via the web site, with no difference (just voodoo, but you know...). The web address Money uses for the bank is the same one I use when logging in. Is there any way to diagnose where the failure is -- an error log, anything? I need to know why it's failing: whether it's the fault of Money, the bank, or my inputs. =================== Ok, so a less-automated method: Using IE6, I ask the bank to Export Transactions for one account, and it offers the choice of Money or Quicken. If I choose Money, it flashes a dialog briefly and says "Export done". I am never offered a choice of where to place a file, nothing. And there are no new files of any kind, OFX or other, anywhere on the computer. If instead I choose QIF, it does prompt me to save the file, and I can import that file into Money later. Is there a way to reset what IE apparently "knows" about OFX files, so that it prompts to save? (FireFox handles both types the same, with no problems.) The Explorer "file types" dialog shows that both file types are handled by the Money Importer (or some such). I don't care which format (OFX/QIF) I use, as long as I'm not missing any information by using QIF instead of OFX for import into Money. Am I? Thanks for any insights or suggestions. -- Jim |
