Thanks, it seems to have worked. I did end up with duplicate transactions> happen. on one of my accounts, but I've cleaned it up. I'll probably be back with other issues as I work this all out... |

| I've heard that this warning is not totally accurate (i.e. it may not actually delete the old transactions). But, I still suggest making a copy of you file before doing the merge. If it really does end up deleting older transactions, you can open the copy, and do an Export of the account that has the history and then go back to the other file and Import (as a statement) the QIF file that you exported. That will bring the history back into that account. You may have some clean-up to do: possibly some duplicated transactions, and you may need to adjust the account's opening balance. -Mark "Brian" <Brian[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:8E396E94-CF19-48BB-B85C-F997B34AF73D[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > (originally posted at http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,12969711) > I've used MS Money for years, but have never really taken advantage of all > its features. > Recently (when helping a friend reinstall his copy) I discovered that I can > set up some of my banks for automatic online services -- where it will > connect and download transactions for me automagically. | (originally posted at http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,12969711) I've used MS Money for years, but have never really taken advantage of all its features. Recently (when helping a friend reinstall his copy) I discovered that I can set up some of my banks for automatic online services -- where it will connect and download transactions for me automagically. This is exactly what I've been wanting for ages!!! The only problem is that when I set this up, it created new accounts -- and only downloaded a small range of transactions (30 days on one, 2 weeks on the other). And when I try to merge the duplicate accounts it tells me it will delete the transactions that are older than what was automatically downloaded. This sucks, b/c I've got several years worth of information in these accounts that I would like to have handy. I know I can close the account (within Money) and refer to it whenever I want -- but before I do that I'd like to copy over all this year's transactions so it's all together for reporting purposes and such. Is there a simple way to do this? So far the only way I've found to do this is to right-click each individual transaction and do "copy to account...". SURELY there's an easier way. It won't let me select multiple transactions... I tried exporting from the old account and then importing to the new--but it recognizes the accounts are different. I'm open to suggestions! I've got the same issue on two different accounts. |
