| Yes. Not easily. You can enter these postdated transactions, void them, then un-void them on the day they actually come due. R-click, mark as void, R-click (un)Mark as void. Easy enough. It would make your account balances in the account list look like "today's" balance without regard to the voided post-dated transactions. OTOH, it would make your forecast cash flow look wrong for all accounts involved--it would make it look as if you've skipped this transaction. You might get the view you want in a customized account balances report, but if you want it in Account List and won't use register as of date or forecast cash flow, then the report won't help much, either. | You're right in how I should be looking at it. That is the good view. Actually, I want a way to see both at the same time (with and w/o pre entered transactions). The one thing I really want to avoid is happens in the account list view totals being skewed. Because the checking account is skewed, it skews my total credit and net worth. I'd like another account list next to the current account list that includes the pre entered transactions. There's plenty of room for two account list. This would be the perfect view. To you understand what I'm looking for? Is there a way to do that or something similar? | By hand. But why? Why not just enter them with a good date and look at the register balance by date for today/the forecast cash flow and not just focus on the account ending balance? I frequently postdate entries that artificially skew the ending balance. I don't manage to the ending balance. I manage to the balance as of today and the forecast cash flow. | Is there a way to have certain recurring events enter into the journal without affecting the running balance? For example, I may have my rent and monthly savings deposit enter 15 days before the event occurs. This greatly skews my running check balance. I'd like to see these items in the journal but without affecting the running balance until say the day the event occurs. In other words, a voided transaction enters 15 days before the event. On the day the event occurs, the voided changes to a valid transaction. That is what I want. Any suggestions how that can be done? Thanks, Brett |
