The easiest way that I found to correct this was to change the "sell" to a> of money in my cash account. However, MSM showed all of these positions I > had that I don't have. Turns out that if you buy/sell on the same day, MSM > doesn't look at the time of day you bought or sold. So if it happens to > enter the "sell" first, msmoney does a "add shares" correction so you have > shares to sell. Then it adds in your "buys" and now you have all of these > extra shares......... MSM will not let you delete the "add> shares"........... What to do?? "short sell" and then delete the "add shares". I know this is not right, but I got real tired of editing the sell transaction to be the buy transaction then editing the buy transaction to be the sell transaction then deleting the add shares transaction. As far as I know, this will give the correct numbers, so I guess it will be good enough for me. I hope Microsoft fixes this. Richard |

| I've been playing around with this mess and found out that microsoft intentional puts the sells before the buys, no matter if you put it in manually or what. Minor flaw in the grand scheme, but very significant if you day trade............... a real pain in the ***. MSM will not let you delete the "add> shares"........... What to do?? I first said "First, create a big-enough fake AddShares that pre-dates the others. Delete the original unwanted addShares. Then finally delete the recent fake AddShares." I now think that first method doesn't work. Instead, hand enter a new Buy with the right date. Then Void or Delete the original buy. Delete the AddShares. To work around this in the future, you could hand-enter your Buys before processing the downloads, and let Money match the downloaded Buys to those. That way they would be first-entered. I wish Money would give an easier way to handle this. Allowing the share balance to go negative, perhaps after a warning would be one way. Letting you reorder the entry order with a "touch" operation would be another. |

| I downloaded my trades from ameritrade to 2005MSM and had the correct amt of money in my cash account. However, MSM showed all of these positions I had that I don't have. Turns out that if you buy/sell on the same day, MSM doesn't look at the time of day you bought or sold. So if it happens to enter the "sell" first, msmoney does a "add shares" correction so you have shares to sell. Then it adds in your "buys" and now you have all of these extra shares......... MSM will not let you delete the "addshares"........... What to do?? |
