| Let's be clear here: the problem is not accessing a network-located Money file from one Money application. (This is what Joseph describes doing but is hardly all of what Robert asked about.) Money will do it and does not know the difference, though performance is likely to suffer, perhaps gravely depending on the network environment. The issue is that Money is not designed to allow multi-user access to the file at one time. (This is what Robert might do from his question unless he and his wife coordinate what they are each doing on their separate laptops at any given time.) There is no record-level or file-level locking. It is entirely too easy for Money to step ungracefully in the data file if two copies of the Money application or tools (e.g., MoneyExpress) are mucking about in one data file at the same time. Been There. Done That. The result is highly likely to be a corrupted data file. YMMV. But consider yourself warned. It should work for your situation, but remember that MS Money is not optimized for this and my network uses a T-4 connection and has been very solid. | Yes, but with limitations and care since Microsoft didn't design Money to work well in this environment. See http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=111. | I have a home network with a desktop I use for a print server and storage. Can I store data on this and access it with my laptop and the wifes laptop? We share a checking account as dangerest as that my be. |
