Not all M05 files can be opened with all M05 service levels. If necessary, open the sample file on both machines and let the Internet Update rip. If done at the same time, this should get both to the same service level and both should be able to deal--serially!!!--with your data file. - quote - > Also, from what I understand you can run into problems if 2 people are

| Sorry, I should have been more specific. When I say "share" I mean between 2 different computers. We are both on the same home network, so in theory we should be able to just use the same money file. But, when I try to open the file on the 2nd computer money is saying it needs to convert the file to 2005 format...? Also, from what I understand you can run into problems if 2 people are accessing the same Money file at the same time. Given that, it is totally rediculus that Microsoft lists multiple user accounts as a new feature in Money 2005 ("New. Multi-user access. Because Money 2005 enables custom settings for every user, several people can share access to the same Money file with their own usernames and passwords."). Yeah... if you send ALL your financial information to Microsoft for storage on their servers! Nice scam... It seems like for every day I use this program I discover that more and more functionality that you'd expect out of a program like Money is actually missing :-/ Marten "Dick Watson" <littlegreengecko[at]mind-enufalready-spring.com> wrote in message news:O4UkpnGJFHA.3356[at]TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl... - quote - > What do you mean "share"? | What do you mean "share"? You login and use it then logout and then she logs in and uses it? When Microsoft says the "sharing" feature of M05 shares your data file, they are just misleading you, as you note, and you cited the reason why in your latter supposition. | Is there really no way to share my 2005 Money for Small Business file with my spouse without enabling syncronization with "MSN Money service"? Why on earth would I want to send all my finacial information across the net to be stored on Microsoft's servers?!?!?!? That is the most rediculus thing; it is either a band-aid solution to get in a last minute feature in the product, or more likely, a cheap shot to trick people into using "MSN Money service" (the documentation is not exactly clear about the fact that by enabeling that "feature", you are sending all your data to MSN). Please tell me there is another way? |
