However I don't think their problems are affecting you. You did not
say you were unable to download transactions. Here is how you could
examine the downloaded OFX files.

calls in Money 2005, 2004, and 2003 " Running the provlogs.reg
(ProvideLogs) will put a registry key into your computer to start
logging, and the other will undo the logging.

Turn on the logging expecting the OFX files to be saved in the
folder with your Money file as *RS.txt. Update your data. Examine
the log files for an occurrence of "<BALAMT> " followed immediately
by an amount in the file. That would be the number that Money
displays.

If the W*RS.txt file starts with "?xml version" you could copy the
file to "test.xml" and open that with IE6. That would format things
for easier viewing. That works because OFX 2 is uses XML.


Now if you find that the number is not correct or if the recent
downloads did not include a <BALAMT> to overwrite the previous
value, there is not much to do about it. I would still like to know
why numbers display as they do, even where I cannot affect it.

thanks for your reply cal but i'm not sure i follow what you are saying? i
have not idea what a "<BALAMT> " is but you may yet understand my problem.
The bank has told me they sent money balance A for example (today), and money
is saying my "Bank Balance" is balance B (no where close). am i correct in
saying that the "Bank Balance" in money should (under normal circumstances)
match balance A that came from the bank?

I think this is the "<BALAMT> " value from download. If you would

My "Bank Balance" in MS Money (the one at the top right of the advanced
register, and appearing in the left pane next to the last online update info)
is way out of whack and i can't figure out why. it is significantly (to the
tune of $1500) higher than any balance my bank has (or has had in weeks). my
"Ending Balance" in money (the one that is explained by the register) is ok.

ps i checked w/ my bank today and they have an electronic record that my
correct "posted" bank balance (also matching what i see online at their
website) was sent to ms money w/ my online update... so i know they are
sending the right number, money just seems to be reading in something from
somewhere else
