If that is true, that changes the situation a lot. If you had a
Passport (email address +password), that would change the situation
a lot the other way.

I would first try making a repaired version the file. See
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902466. If that asks for a password,
you probably had a password and forgot. That would be bad.

If that fails, try restoring a backup (*.mbf) file. To do that open
Money by right-clicking Money in WE, and choosing Open. Do not
restore to the "default location", but instead Browse to your
MyDocuments/Documents folder and choose a new name.

I always use MS$ 04 offline and am not sure what the live ID is as I have
never used that nor did I ever have a password for MS$.

I last used in6/08 and then was away for several months. When I attempted to
use MS$ yesterday, it would not open my data files without a password (which,
of course, I do not have).

Any way to access my data from this year and the past several years?

Does this result from something that MS did or something else which has
changed?

Thanks in advance.

File-> PasswordManager-> Change-> DisableMoney'sPassportFeatures

So open Money 2004. Left-click "File" in the upper left. Password
manager should be in the list.

Default Re: passport

I have Money 12.0 and have been unable to remove my passport from my
datafile. Recently the option to "Log in without using the on-line features"
has disappeared for some reason. This means I can't log in "off-line"

When I try to remove my passport through "Password Manager" I get the
following error message

"Money cannot complete your Microsoft Passport change, possibly because of
problems with your Internet connection. Please disconnect from the Internet,
reconnect, and try again."

I've done quite a bit of reading in different forums, but havn't been able
to find a cure for this yet (although I've tried several things listed here)

Any advice you can give would be much appreciated as I really don't want to
get locked out of my datafiles and have to abandon all my account history.

Thanks in anticpation

Beware also that you will only have whatever problem you are now having with
Passport and M04 for another 29 days. After that you will have an entirely
different problem.

You did all 12 methods multiple times? I am not even sure if step 12
could be applicable. I don't know whether to be in awe or
skepticism.

You should not need a server to remove a Passport from a Money 2004
file. You do need to know the email address and passport in effect
from when that file was saved.

What happened in method 3?

What happened with Method 6?

Did you change the password on your Passport/LiveID this year? Don't
do it now. Did you recently try to change the Passport/LiveID itself
somehow, perhaps due to changing ISPs?

Do you only have one backup file?

The same results multiple times on each solution. Somehow, the server had to
have lost the association with the file and nothing will bring it back.

Have you tried the solutions in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/891338/en-us ?

Also, work off line. Try to open the file with the same passport and
password that you used when you created the file. If you are not
sure, use all of the combinations that it might be.

Once open, remove the Passport.

I have the same problem in Money 2004. I have not found one solution that
works. The trial edition of Money 2008 still does not show the LiveID sign-in
name and says it is not associated with the file. Will Microsoft support be
able to actually fix it in this situation? Any experiences with this?
It always says the sign-in name is not associated and attempts to sign in
without internet features says the password is wrong. I know my ID and
password are correct. They work other places. I even tried other computers
using Money 2003 and Money 2006 with the exact same results.

Money 2004 will no longer accept our passport password. Nothing has changed
and we still sign into hotmail without any problems. Does anyone else have
this problem or know the solution?
