Click Advanced. Check Confirm Open After Download to get the pop-up box. That will allow you to save the file to disk whenever it comes in from the website via IE6. You can then examine it after you download. Use IE6 to do the download. - quote - > 2) Import into Money
After doing Save to disk, you can do File-> Open of the file, orclick the Open button from the pop-up box. - quote - > 3) Watch for the error message to appear (smiles)
Copy the downloaded file to *.xml, and open that with IE6 toexamine. If that does not give a good display, try Notepad or other text editor. - quote - > Couple of notes: My Data File is not within the Program folders, but

Either way. Change the "key" from 1 to 0 manually, or use the other> Question 3) Where is the log file written to? | The provlogs.reg and nologs.reg files are on Money's CD in the PSS folder (if you got the CD version of Money). The .rs and .rq logs will save in the same location as your Money data file. NOTE: provlogs is only useful if you are doing "direct" connection from within Money. If you are actually downloading an OFX file directly from the banks website, there is no need to run provlogs. Provlogs is simple a way to create a copy of the download in a separate file in addition to reading the data directly into Money. These reg files are also availble on the http://www.microsoft.com/money/fi/forOFXPartners.mspx site. That site also contains Tools for analyzing OFX files. That may help identify if there is something unexpected/inaccurate in the OFX file itself. -Mark "A J Gladson" <oilcantony[at]yahoo.com> wrote in message news:1110409644.812722.255840[at]z14g2000cwz.googlegroups.com... - quote - > Yes, which I had did and it adjusts the registry settings. | Yes, which I had did and it adjusts the registry settings. This part I understand. I should have been clearer in my question. The next steps would be.....(????) 1) goto the Finanical Website, select data to download, download --- my setup is to save the data file on my hardd rive 2) Import into Money 3) Watch for the error message to appear (smiles) Couple of notes: My Data File is not within the Program folders, but they are both located on the same drive. I wasn't saving the OFX file to the same folder as Money Data File (again it was on the same drive). I am now doing saving the OFX file to the same folder - but I am not seeing any change. Specific Questions: Question 1) Is logging turned on just by changing the registry? Question 2) If no, what steps do I need to turn on the logging? Question 3) Where is the log file written to? What is the naming convention? Question 4) Should I turn the log off at some point? Is this a command or do I just download the other file from the Money website to update the registry? Thanks again.... |

Unzip the provlogs.reg file, or in Windows XP, you can just "open" the zip file. In Windows Explorer, double-click the provlogs.reg file. There will be a pop-up box which you accept. |

| Thanks Cal. I did the registry update. but I am not certain how to 'Turn on the logging expecting the OFX files to be saved in the folder with your Money file as *RS.txt. Update your data.' Thanks! I assume you have at least two FIs with this problem. \ Even so, I would examine the downloaded OFX files. http://money.mvps.org/patches.aspx has these links: "ProvLogs.reg/NoLogs.reg - Turn on/off automatic logging to log calls in Money 2005, 2004, and 2003 " Running the provlogs.reg (ProvideLogs) will put a registry key into your computer to start logging, and the other will undo the logging. Turn on the logging expecting the OFX files to be saved in the folder with your Money file as *RS.txt. Update your data. Examine the log files for an occurrence of "<SEVERITY> ERROR" in the file. That would be one potential source of the error indication, and it would mean that Money is simply passing on what your FI was telling you. One simple one to find is the presence of an ampersand ("&") that is not part of these five characters: "&". Other OFX file problems are harder to locate. Since there is more than one FI involved here, these seem less likely to be the problem. Depending on your FI, you could try creating a new Money file without a Passport. See if you could set up one or more of your FIs in that file for online access. Whether or not that works could tell you to look to your particular file as the problem, or something else. |

| Money 2005 Standard Okay I think I have screwed something up and I am unable to figure out how to get back to a 'normal' state. No matter for financial institutions which offer OFX, I get the following message: "There was a problem with the data received from your financial institution. If this problem persists, call the Customer Support number for your financial institution, listed on the Contact Information tab in the Online Banking area." I have tried the following: 1) Delete Offline Content and reduce the cache size. 2) Empty the Temporary Internet files folder 3) I have no Tranactions to Read (this happens for all OFX) 4) Repaired the Money file 5) Changed Internet Explorer Settings (Do not save encrypted pages to disk) 6) Verified / Change File Association for OFX and QIF after I uninstalled Quicken. 7) Uninstalled Money and Reinstalled Money to a different folder (d:\ path vereses c:\ path) - this was a pain - it took a lot of work to get it to use my data file. 8) Save file to hard drive and Importing verses Opening Money I obtain the same error. I quess I am okay if the Financial Service offers QIF as an option, but this is a real pain. Thanks in advance for your help. |
