| If you were able to go back and reinstall 2004 your better off keeping it and throwing 2005 out the window. I stayed with 2005 bitting the bullet for way to long and now it is too late to go back. But there is worse issues with this program than just your balances being off. It's not worth the trouble. "kenmist" wrote: - quote - > Tried repairing as you suggested, no help. | Tried repairing as you suggested, no help. I uninstalled Money 2005 using add/remove and then tried a reinstall of Money 2004 and used last month's back-up. This worked and got me back to my previous balance. I made my entries and then balanced it against my statement...no problems. When the opening screen for balancing came on, the previous balance was right on, I inserted the new closing balance and then proceeded to reconcile the account with no problems. The Money 2005 statement went all the way back to 2001 and I guess I could have pulled out my old check registers and found the error, but it seemed like a lot of work. I'm reluctant to reinstall 2005, but I like a challenge and now that I know I can always revert to the 2004 data I might give it another try? Thanks! | The problem is with the file, not the program. You could try repairing the file- -this option is under the File menu in Money. If the repair doesn't correct the problem, try converting the file from 04 again. Before I'd do that, check the opening balance for the account as well to see if it is 6,000 too much. You could also revert to 04, repair the file there, then try reinstalling 05 and reconverting the file. | Have been using MS Money for years. I purchased 2005 Deluxe and installed it over 2004 Std. Upon first use it asked me if I wanted to download an upgrade, I selected OK. When I opened my checking account the balance was +$6000 more than my actual bank statement. That would be great if it were actually true, but after I tried balancing it, no such luck! I could stick in a $6000 adjustment, but I have never experienced this kind of error when upgrading in previous years. So what's up? Should I just use the "add/remove" feature with Win XP and try again? Or System Restore and lose the 2005 Deluxe program? Help |
