| I am not certain if this works for Money 2004 - but it does correct a problem with Money 2005. I had a system crash the trashed my boot sector and basically have spent the last week rebuilding and reinstalling software and whereisb solution did work for me. |

| Rich, I had the exact same problem and the exact same error message and here is how I fixed it. The problem is that Money will not open your file until it has a chance to download the updates from the internet. After installing Money create a new Money file. This will be a file you can delete. Don't worry about your data yet. After or while the file is being created it will download (assuming you are connected to the internet) the current updates from Money. Follow the prompts, close Money and re-boot your PC. Re-start your PC, start Money and then you will be able to open your MOney file of interest. Then you can later delete the "new" MOney file you created. Bill |

| This is **not** a common problem. You might want to do an advanced search of the archives for newsgroup microsoft.public.money at http://groups.google.com, but I don't think you'll find much. Since many people have updated .net framework without having to reload XP afterward and many people have installed/reinstalled M04 without seeing such a message, you might want to consider the possibility that something else is going on here--i.e., the possibility that your Money problem is a symptom of something else. | I just had to reinstall my Windows XT after a faulty "update" of the .net framework destroyed it. I've mostly managed to reinstall everything except the OEM copy of Money 2004. Everything seems to install fine, but when I run it I get a message that the program is "Unable to load the Registration library (DLL)." Any ideas? I do intend to upgrade to the full 2005 version, but right now I've got backed-up financial data I need for my current federal taxes that I can't get to. -Rich |
