Default Re: Why do investment transactions affect "ending cash balance"

In addition to Cal's comments, Merrill Lynch has specific instructions on
its web site of dealing with this issue in Money. I've found it helpful to
follow them literally (and call ML when/if necessary).

The shares that are added/removed -- are they your Money Market
Fund?

There are two good ways for the swept MMF shares to be handled:
1. Have Buy and Sell transactions for the shares.
2. Do not enter transactions for the shares; let the cash balance
represent the MMF holdings.

Where do the Add Shares and Remove Shares come from? I doubt that
they are downloaded that way. If Money is generating them, tell
Money to stop. ;-) That is, don't accept Money's offer to adjust
your positions.

Another thing you can do, instead or in part, is to change all
AddShares of the MMF into Buy transactions, and change all
RemoveShares of the MMF to Sell transactions.

Default Why do investment transactions affect "ending cash balance"

Money 2004: I have a Merrill Lynch account that is an investment account
which also has an embedded checking account. The checking account
transactions show up in my "cash transactions" (which I want). Shares are
added & removed on the investment side to reflect the cash transactions.
However, the Account Balance/Ending Cash Balance on the Investment
Transactions page appears to be a summation of all investment transactions
(e.g. remove 400 shares + add 50 shares shows up as +$450). What gives?
Right now the account shows I have $60K more than I should; generous but not
accurate
