| Since all of the bank fees and reversals fall on basically the same days every month, I think that's a grand idea and I'll try that. Thanks. We'll see next month. | So, this is a checking account download with no (or few) payees provided in the download? That probably makes it a little harder. The algorithm is what it is; without the information it has to go on changing, I'd expect it to keep working the same way. If all it has to go in is $15 and it doesn't look for patterns of $15 but looks for a first instance of a $15 transaction, there's no way to guarantee anything else. You could go find that payee in Find and change the $15 transaction to $14.99 (put a $0.01 transaction in next to keep balances sane). That might work. From what I know of downloaded transactions, I think your best bet is to go and schedule the fee in Bills & Deposits and see if it will match that instead. This amounts to giving it more information to go on. I don't download transaction data. I skip all of these headaches right there. | "Download", granted, would have been a helpful word in my initial posting and assume that is all that was "inadequate" in that post. Somewhere in the history of my 12-15 years with MS Money a payee received $15. Since then, whenever there is a $15 downloaded transaction, MS Money wants to auto-fill that old payee in. Because this is an automatic bank charge (subsequently offset by an automatic credit within a day or so), not something I have filled in, Money is apparently (only my guess) guessing too about who the payee could be and rather than look at 12 transactions a year, for at least 5 or 6 years, and seeing the bank charge, it settles on this one payee from years gone by. I thought there may be a way to guarantee the proper payee. | Figure out where it's coming from (payee rules, implicit payees, an explicit payee) and correct/rename and/or delete that payee? You seem to suggest that Money suggests the payee because the amounts match? I assume, from inadequate information, that it is matching a payee in a download with some other payee. | I have one monthly transaction that Money 05 (and its predecessors) auto-fills the incorrect payee because sometime in years past I must have had a $15 charge from this payee . It is one of the more cinsistent features of Money, even if it's wrong, but is there a way to change an incorrect auto-fill? -- PlsHelpMScan't |
