| Hello Cal, Well, here it is end of March '05 (3/25 to be exact), and these problems about Money just stopping to work are still occurring to those of us who aren't aware until reading this newsgroup. Why is there still no Knowledge Base artice or patch for this problem? Microsoft needs to post a work-around and quickly make a patch. They can't expect everyone to find these newsgroups to find this fix. I have the latest build (1105), which it seems others had as well. I was adding about 10 more investment transactions to an account. Afterwards, it wouldn't open again. There is evidently some limit as to how many transactions can be in an account before this Investment module on the home page goes wacko. After having to start over with a 2 week old backup and saving in stages, I finally figured out that it just seemed to blow up after adding certain investment transactions back in. Please try to get the Money developers to listen and to fix this!!! Cool. Next step is from that empty file,:Tools-> Settings-> ProgramSettings and set the (General Display StartMoneyWithThisPageOpen:AccountListOpen the problem file. Then Tools-> Settings-> HomePageDisplayOptions and Remove all of the Investment items. I don't remember which is the potential problem one, but if this gets you going, we can worry about where to go next. |

I don't know why, but I have a Money and a Money 2005 folder under Program Files, and there are three MNYCoreFiles directories in the 2005 folder (BAK and NEW in addition to the main folder) Installed from downloaded webinst.exe as upgrade to Money 2004 originally, before uninstalling and re-installing. If Money is closed and you launch it by double-clicking sample.mny in your install folder, does it open and not hang? - quote - > I also have McAfee anti-virus automatically updating and scanned with both > Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D > -David > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, Anne wrote: > > > > > > I'm having the same problem, but it also prevents me from going to msn.com > > > You too haven't installed SP2 on your XP box? > > > When you lock up, will Windows Task Manager respond? | Locking up means the program is not responding. I can open task manager and force it to terminate. Other times it just closes unexpectedly without reporting any error. Only one time it actually presented an "unexpected error" message before shutting down. I also have McAfee anti-virus automatically updating and scanned with both Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D -David "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, Anne wrote: > > > I'm having the same problem, but it also prevents me from going to msn.com > You too haven't installed SP2 on your XP box? > When you lock up, will Windows Task Manager respond? You too haven't installed SP2 on your XP box? When you lock up, will Windows Task Manager respond? What does lock up mean to you? - quote - > and has been causing problems for Messenger. | I'm having the same problem, but it also prevents me from going to msn.com and has been causing problems for Messenger. Two virus scans later, I haven't found anything directly related. Does anyone know of a specific virus that would do this, or any way of correcting it? "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, David Ratonyi wrote: > > Any ideas?
