| Renamed qdata.mny to qdata.2005, renamed qdata.m12 to qdata.mny, started Money 2004, dealt with the couple of configurations that had been lost, and I was back where I had been before installing Money 2005. | Depends how long ago you converted on the degree of pain. When you did the upgrade Money took a copy of your .mny file and renamed as .m12. It is hidden wherever M2005 told you but usually in the same directory as your 2005 .mny file. | I do have the ability to use the cash flow report instead, but it was very useful to see this in the same view as the account register that it referred to. If Microsoft wished to enhance performance, they have not gone very far to that end. I am running Money 05 Deluxe on a PII 300 with 256, and I see no noticable difference between the 05 version and the 03 version I replaced. Since I can't get background banking to work without syncronizing with MSN, (which seems to be a performance hog), I am thinking about reverting to my 2003 version. | Microsoft thinks Most Users Prefer(tm) not having Forecast Cash Flow if they buy the Standard Edition. They think the truly Essential features are much, much, simpler than Forecast Cash Flow. (Pretty much just a pretty skin on your bank's web site view of your accounts.) The obviousness of the need for Forecast Cash Flow will seem less universal to you if you hang around the NG for a while. Microsoft also probably wants to nick you for the extra $10 per year. | Shouldn't the consumer have the option to disable the feature if they want to speed up Money so the rest of us can still use this ESSENTIAL feature? | I recently upgraded from Money 2003 to Money 2005 Deluxe. In the old version, I could see feedback on spending patterns and a cashflow projection in the account register view. In the new version, this (very helpful) feature seems to be gone. Is the feature gone, or is there a trick to turning it on? Help please! James |
