| This one looses me, too. It seems like if I can do 11 months backward of this year, what's the difference of going back an eternity? This is probably another piece of Most Users Prefer(tm) goofiness. | Jumping in - Thanks for your reply to the mortgage question Dick. I was trying to convert a liability account that ciontained my mortgage into a true mortgage account (M2004 SB) and was confronted with the issue of not being able to go back to the original date to re-enter all past info. I wondered if re-setting the system clock would solve this. What I can't figure is why Microsoft would program it this way? Bill "Dick Watson" wrote: - quote - > What Money version? | Sounds like another case of Dumbing Down because Most Users Prefer(tm) Dumbed Down. Try setting you computer date back to 1/1/year you started the mortgage. | Using M2005. The setup loan dialog never asked the original amount of the loan, just asked how much was owed on the loan as of Jan 1, 2005. It asked the terms, ARM? , Balloon? monthly payments? etc. But nowhere was there a question regarding origination date of the loan, or the original amount. What if someone just decided to buy Money, and wants to computerize their own home mortgage? Can they on do that for the current year? "Dick Watson" wrote: - quote - > What Money version? | What Money version? I recall the both questions in the M04 Loan Account setup dialog. There are also reports that it won't allow going into the previous year, much less further back--that have been solved by temporarily changing the clock date on your system back, creating the loan account, then setting it forward to current. I have not created a Loan Account under M05. | I imported data from Quicken, and the mortgage didn't quite make the conversion. I have tried creating a new mortgage, hoping to get Money to calculate and enter back payments (i.e. monthly payment, P + I from date of inception and the ability to enter the original loan amount). However, Money doesn't ask me about how many payments may have already been made, or if they have been made monthly, nor does it ask the origination date of the loan. I am sure this can be done, and I can just "start over" in money and trash the quicken mortgage account. Thanks in advance for your help.---BDC |
