| But then it also shows your salary. Since (thank god) it's the biggest category, it reduces the spending slices to miniscule slivers. This kind of wipes out the utility of a Spending Chart, IMO. I have a LOT more offset gains/losses than an $18 bank charge. Let me explain. Gambling winnings are taxable income only to the extent that they exceed losses. I enter winnings as "negative losses," to keep Money from treating all winnings as income. It works, but not in the Spending Chart. Doing the Spending Chart in the way described would work only if you entered your paycheck as "negative living expenses." IMO, anyway. | Look at Customize Report, Details, Type and change to "all Types" from "Payments". "BJT" <BJT[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:C6A1D91C-B5EB-4FDD-9B41-891D204FAAA0[at]microsoft.com... I did catagorize the income as a "negative" expense. That's how I did it on Yahoo! but for some reason the amount in that catagory still is the same as it was before I catagorized the income as an expense. I have a bank service charge of $18 and then I get a $18 credit from the bank. But even though I catagorized the credit under the same expense catagory I still have $18 show up for bank service charges in my spending by catagory pie chart. |

It does not work in the Spending by Category report for me either,> Yahoo! but for some reason the amount in that catagory still is the same as > it was before I catagorized the income as an expense. But even though I > catagorized the credit under the same expense catagory I still have $18 show > up for bank service charges in my spending by catagory pie chart. but it does work when I customize Transactions by Category. Perhaps Spending is deemed to only be only outgo and ignores the negative "spending" in the Spending report. |
